As a Power Electronics Engineer on the hardware team, you will be responsible for owning the design, manufacture, and test of power circuitry for highly integrated PCBAs used by a large number of space customers. You will work with a small team of software, RF hardware, and FPGA engineers to shepherd the product from initial design to vehicle integration, taking a full-stack approach to building robust space communication systems.
Responsibilities
Design, analyze and test DC-DC power converters for space
Work on electrical power system and sub-system level design trades and develop requirements
Define and perform electrical power system verification testing and analysis
Work with multidisciplinary teams of hardware, software and production engineers to create new power electronics hardware
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or other STEM discipline
3+ years of professional experience designing power circuitry
Proven experience doing schematic capture and layout in Altium Designer or similar
Experience in modeling, simulation, and testing of power electronics
Experience designing and debugging power converters
Preferred Experience & Skills
Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
Familiar with failure mode effects and criticality analysis (FMEA)
Experience designing power trees with complex sequencing requirements
Experience with hand-on impedance measurement and loop-gain measurement
Working experience in voltage and current mode control and compensation design
Strong grasp of DC-DC topologies, with ability to select optimal architectures and components
Familiarity with a wide range of topologies such as push-pull, buck, boost, buck-boost, forward, half-bridge, full-bridge, LLC resonant and phase-shifted full-bridge converters
Familiarity with spacecraft electrical power systems
