At Dr. Squatch (www.drsquatch.com), we’re raising the bar on men’s personal care with our line of natural, high-performance products. We’re on a high-growth, fast-moving ride, continually introducing new product categories, launching into retailers nationwide, and growing internationally. About the Role:

The Portfolio Strategy Sr. Associate is responsible for supporting the growth of Dr. Squatch’s personal care categories by bringing new products to market and optimizing existing products and categories. Should we be expanding within the category? Do we need to improve or cut the products we already have?  Are our products fit for the right channels and keeping up with current trends?  Is the category set up for long-term success or should we be innovating within the space?  These are all questions the Portfolio Strategy Sr. Associate will work on answering on a regular basis, and the answers to these questions will fundamentally steer the business.

A successful Portfolio Strategy Sr. Associate will be highly creative, analytical, and ROI-driven in identifying potentially attractive opportunities. Specifically, he or she will help build out the strategy for existing product categories, while continuously evaluating new opportunities, and helping oversee the execution of both. A successful Portfolio Strategy Sr. Associate will be an exceptional teammate, leveraging the expertise of our Product Development, Consumer Insights, Data & Analytics, Marketing and Operations to ensure we’re making the best product decisions for the business. Finally, a successful Portfolio Strategy Sr. Associate will understand how to balance data with intuition, and will be energized by helping guide important decisions.

This role will report to the Senior Manager of Product Strategy.

This is a full-time, hybrid role with company benefits based in Marina del Rey, CA.

The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $80,000 to $100,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the execution of cross-functional initiatives, including product briefs, category reviews, and ad-hoc strategic projects and present findings to the leadership team
  • Support the overall performance of categories and products within the Dr. Squatch portfolio, developing a deep understanding of our brand, our customer, and the problems we’re trying to solve through natural personal care products
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to create and track revenue and adoption goals by product category, identify opportunities to improve the profitability and reliability of our products, ensure optimal merchandising and claims strategy, and support retail merchandising initiatives
  • Help identify potential initiatives and optimizations to grow existing categories and collaborate with the broader team in prioritizing, executing and analyzing the success of those initiatives
  • Support in the development and drive of long term strategic initiatives to address gaps or capitalize on whitespace opportunities to grow market share
  • As part of the development of new products, translate data from multiple sources (e.g. consumer insights, market research, competitive landscape) into a winning value proposition and set of key product features, own pricing and product margin, work cross-functionally to establish and understand revenue goals, demand planning and merchandising, and manage the product and artwork design
  • Support retail merchandising initiatives and decisions in coordination with the Retail and Commercialization teams

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree - ideally in Business, Marketing, quantitative, or technical field
  • 2-3+ years in management consulting, finance, private equity, high-growth startups, or similar company
  • Scrappy problem-solver with a strong sense of urgency
  • Highly analytical and strategic thinker, excited to ensure Dr. Squatch continues innovating across the universe of existing and new product categories
  • A self-starter with an ability to complete tasks both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail
  • A team player excited about cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
