About the role:

Curri is seeking a Platform Engineer who is excited about building excellent developer experiences and enhancing the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our developer infrastructure. If you love optimizing build systems, streaming CI/CD workflows, creating top-notch internal tools, and making engineering teams more efficient, this is the opportunity for you!

What you will do:

  • Develop and maintain developer tooling, libraries, and frameworks using JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Design and implement scalable infrastructure solutions to support development pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize developer workflows and build tools for code quality, testing, and deployment.
  • Monitor and improve the performance, reliability, and security of our platform and tooling systems.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in platform engineering and JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems.

What you need to have:

  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on platform or infrastructure development.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with hands-on experience building developer tools or frameworks.
  • Familiarity with modern JavaScript ecosystems, including build tools (e.g., Webpack, esbuild, Vite), package managers (e.g., pnpm, npm, Yarn), and testing frameworks.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi).
  • Background with scaling and migrating systems in a changing environment that allows for little to no downtime.

Bonus Points if:

  • Comfortable working within unfamiliar architectures to debug service impacting issues.
  • Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Familiarity with monorepo strategies and tools like Nx or Lerna or pnpm.
  • Proficient knowledge about in-browser JavaScript, the JavaScript ecosystem, and the browser privacy and security landscape.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and API design principles.
  • Previous experience contributing to open-source projects or communities.

What is in it for you?

  • A chance to make an immediate, meaningful impact at a fast-growing start-up.
  • Significant responsibility from Day 1, with opportunities to shape our go-to-market strategy and directly contribute to company success.
  • Work in a remote environment with a flexible schedule. We don’t micromanage and want to help you do great work.
  • There is no work/life—there is only life, and we want your time at Curri to be life-giving and foster the best version of you. We care about family and your personal development and don't expect you to always be engaged with work.
  • Competitive salary, along with health, dental, vision, 401K, and equity compensation.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
