Air Products and Chemicals Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an opening for a Site Supervisor at its production facility in Claiborne, AL.

We are seeking a Plant Site Supervisor for our Claiborne AL facility.

The Claiborne facility consists of 2 low pressure oxygen VSA’s and 1 high pressure Oxygen VSA.

The Site Supervisor will have broad responsibilities. This role will require the candidate to gain an understanding of all aspects of the site's responsibilities (plant operation, maintenance and regulations) with a specific focus on leadership skills. Initial focus of responsibilities will include supervision of all aspects of the air separation plants operations, maintenance, safety, and record-keeping. Candidate would also be expected to provide some support for other local site supervisors.

Military candidates and veterans are encouraged to apply. This position would be best suited for Junior Officer/CWO/LDO or Non-commissioned Officers with specific focus on a technical leadership background. Examples would be, but not limited to, experience in propulsion systems, engineering fields, nuclear power, aircraft maintenance, civil engineering.

Required Skills / Abilities: 

  • Management of the site’s Basic Safety Process and Process Safety Management with a focus on the company’s efforts to drive to a goal of 0 safety incidents.

  • Supporting all aspects of the day-to-day operations to include troubleshooting plant process problems, supervising daily plant activities, and managing plant projects.

  • A self-starter with tried leadership abilities. Self-led and highly motivated to plan and ensure the execution of all tasks required by our safety, environmental and engineering standards.

  • Experience with operation of gen gas and/ or air separation fractional distillation processes is a plus but not a specific requirement as training will be provided for the successful candidate.

  • A successful track record of success in EH&S and Quality.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Working independently with equal ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Maintenance experience in an industrial plant.

  • Demonstrated computer skills.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Safety performance, Basic Safety Process compliance and process safety management.

  • Providing environmental, safety and quality training to the operations & maintenance personnel.

  • Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation, including troubleshooting plant process problems, directly supervising daily plant activities, and driving plant projects.

  • Working with support resources to achieve productivity targets in all areas.

  • Identifying maintenance concerns, then developing and implementing corrective / preventative measures.

  • Interface with tactical planning and delivery logistics planning to ensure inventory management of the facility’s products.

  • Develop and build a strong relationship with our customer.

  • 24/7 on-call responsibilities for response to plant alarms and shutdowns.

  • Working and communicating regularly and effectively with the North America Operating Service Center (OSC), asset manager, regional maintenance manager, technical support team, and line manager.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience is required.

  • Safety focused.

  • Expected travel: less than 30%.

  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

  • Will be exposed to high noise levels.

  • Be able to meet on-call and call-in requirements as needed.

  • Elevated work required.
