Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Assigns news coverage/handles logistics of deploying news crews.
Assigns stories to journalists and photographers in an organized and timely manner.
Maintains communication with all personnel involved with newscast.
Ensures continuous communication with planning editors on other shifts to maintain continuity and keep the desk running smoothly and coordinates coverage with producers.
Gathers and researches story ideas through beat calls, wire services, newspapers, magazines, web sites, and radio and television news.
Liaises with Planning Editors and Producers within Spectrum Networks, CNN news source and other outside news agencies.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of issues, events and newsmakers in region state and world.
Maintains database of news sources and contacts.
Gathers information about overnight breaking news stories.
Supervises editorial content and news gathering; ensures continuous communication and team building with all News Planning Editors and managers
Alternates and coordinates long-term coverage and preliminary planning of special events with Planning Manager.
Assists with training and professional development of planning desk staff.
Leads coordination of story follow-up: contact cards, story grid entry and discussion with reporters.
Directs news coverage and supervises Planning Editors and other newsroom personnel in assigned market.
Performs other duties as assigned.
