Job Summary
Acts as the lead scheduler, planner on development and production programs. Responsible for turning customer and internal Engineering/Research and Development demand into supplied final product that meets customer requirements by creating the production schedule and purchase requisitions. Ensures that all parties required to support the production plan are aligned and can execute it on time.  Drives inventory turns while minimizing cost of freight, cost of quality and lead time. May assist with creating purchase orders as required.
Primary Responsibilities
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans material availability in sync with the final assembly build schedule. 
  • Schedules production and drives orders through the shop floor in alignment with customer demand. Determines timing of that all orders should be released to production.
  • Manages production capacity load to ensure maximum on-time delivery.
  • Tracks, monitors and reports on-time delivery (OTD) for all customer orders. Provides monthly performance to senior leadership.
  • Responsible for maintenance and accuracy of open purchase orders, quotes, work orders and part master data. Maintains accurate lead times for assigned commodities.
  • Tracks and reports risks associated with the production schedule. Determines when any risk should be elevated to senior leadership and Business Unit leadership for additional action.
  • Plans and monitors the flow of material from the receipt of demand through the manufacturing process to ensure it is meeting required schedule needs. 
  • Meets with all stake holders needed to execute the production schedule for alignment and execution.
  • Resolves shipment quality discrepancies by mediating supplier/manufacturing issues. Facilitates the resolution of issues by arranging and participating in conferences between suppliers and company personnel.
  • Provides Program Management and senior leadership with production status, purchase order status and delivery information.
  • Identifies and removes obstacles that will hinder the production schedule performance in alignment with customer demand requirement. 
  • Demonstrates the capability to plan new programs and parts and fulfill planning/database requirements from inception through the production phase. 
  • Supports the integrity of the MRP database by monitoring Engineering inputs and initiating corrections as needed.
  • Provides leadership to the team regarding what is needed to support the production plan and meet the customer demand.
  • Works with suppliers and the production team in providing guidance as to what work orders or purchase order line items and quantities should be priorities. Supports management of the flow of work in process on the shop floor.
  • Tracks and evaluates inventory to determine actions needed for excess and obsolete parts.
  • Implements supply and demand changes, and incorporates engineering changes in a timely fashion.
  • Provides parts, equipment, and materials information by answering questions and requests. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains a variety of schedules, records, and reports pertaining to the tracking of materials through the production cycle and availability of production resources.
  • Responsible for inventory levels. Generates tracking reports and performs data entry as required.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and provides suggestions for cost reduction, on-time delivery improvements and efficiency improvements.
  • Assists or fills in for the Supply Chain Manager and Operations Manager, and Material Handlers as required. 
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed.
  • Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodity.
  • Advises Supply Chain Manager on the appropriate supplier to be used.
  • Participates in supplier audits and evaluates them as to production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria.
  • Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
  • Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
  • Assures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
  • Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
  • Coordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute commodity in a cost effective manner.
  • Assist with Kitting and ERP transaction as needed.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in the practical application of MRP logic (SyteLine preferred), scheduling logic, order policies and modifiers, capacity planning, input/output control, product structures, routings, shop floor control, and product family manufacturing strategies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (with strong excel skills).
  • Capable of performing master scheduling and demand management.
  • Familiarity with stockroom, purchasing, design cell, and cost accounting techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex material's issues within the company. 
  • Able to work with in cross functional Business Unit team to solve problems.
  • Must have excellent oral and good written communication skills.
  • Must be a team player and have sound judgment and data driven analytical abilities.
  • Must have strong attention to detail, and have proven capabilities in handling multiple priorities.

Education

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent with 2 years of relevant planning/buying responsibilities. APICS CPIM certification or equivalent training is preferred.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000
