We are seeking an individual to lead impactful photography campaigns across our sports programming, driven by creative materials - editorial, reportage, behind the scenes, event and action photography. The role requires a high level of creativity, an inquisitive and innovative personality, and a strong project management background. The Netflix Photo Studio team specializes in capturing impactful imagery that shapes, enhances and supports our Global marketing campaigns for our Netflix content across live programming, scripted series, film, and documentaries.
 

The Opportunity
Spearheading the photography capture during our live productions across our sports programming slate, this role utilizes knowledge of sports & live event production and photography. We value candidates who are action-oriented, hands-on and enthusiastic about contributing wherever needed.They have a strong roster and relationships with sports entertainment, editorial, and event photographers across the United States and Canada. The ideal candidate has a strong project management background and excels at strategically planning and executing multiple projects simultaneously. They are highly organized, creative, and communicate succinctly. As a collaborative team player, they thrive in fast-paced environments and work effectively across multiple teams. Self-motivated and possessing high integrity, this candidate uses sound judgment to make wise decisions, thinks strategically, and inspires colleagues to do the same.

This role will work cross-functionally with the Netflix publicity, marketing, product, and social teams, as well as show production, talent reps, and external photographers and producers throughout the lifecycle of a campaign.  

This job is based in Los Angeles and reports to the Senior Manager of Photo Studio, Film, Animation & Sports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a photography strategy for sports programming and live events, to capture, produce and utilize impactful visual assets to enhance the 360 marketing campaign throughout each project’s lifecycle

  • Hire, schedule and oversee photographers, with expertise in sports and love event coverage; drive communication with production teams to ensure seamless capture of respective athletic events, behind the scenes moments and key talent interactions. 

  • Curate and deliver a final set of photography to be used for the overall title campaign

  • Drive communication with lead campaign publicist, marketing/social teams, production teams and talent reps

  • Produce editorial photography with Netflix talent on certain campaigns

  • Assist with the asset management and servicing of photographic material

  • Produce gallery and marketing still photoshoots

  • Oversee retouching and color correction of photography.

  • Manage talent approvals of photography when required

  • Oversee photography needs for premieres and events.

  • Manage budgets, open internal POs and negotiate rates with third-party vendors.

Career Experience

  • 8+ years experience at a network, studio, sports media company, or editorial outlet with a strong focus on sports and live event photography 

  • Strong roster of sports, entertainment, and editorial photographers

  • Experience in Live television and sports broadcasting preferred 

  • Strategic thought-partner and strong team player

  • Deadline-oriented, agile in event settings with strong time management skills

  • Strong eye for producing impactful photo assets

  • Experience working with international markets is preferred

  • Ability to handle high volume of complex projects and tasks for multiple people and departments simultaneously and manage competing priorities with tight timelines 

  • Must be able to work independently, highly decisive, strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Must possess solid organizational, effective time management and excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external teams

  • Understand and interest in Federal copyright laws, usage licenses, embargoes and athlete likeness rights

  • Deep knowledge of the photography industry

  • Strong knowledge in digital file specs, size formats and delivery workflows for sports media

  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Suite including Photoshop and Pro is preferred

  • Strong understanding of union, league associations, broadcast regulations (e.g., SAG, DGA, Local 600 rules and regulations)

These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location. 

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $180,000 - $220,000.
