Provides pharmaceutical services, compounds medications, reviews physician orders, enters orders into the system, monitors medication, and ensures tasks accuracy while maintaining professional conduct.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides pharmaceutical services to the hospital’s inpatients and outpatients.
- Compounds and dispenses pharmaceutical preparations and acts as a source of drug information to all members of the health care team.
- Accurately reviews and accurately interprets physician orders.
- Enters medication orders into the computer.
- Monitors for stat medications.
- Checks for accuracy of tasks performed by others.
- Always able to prepare complex pharmaceutical admixtures.
- Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
- Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Graduation from a pharmacy program with at least a B.S. degree required
- Pharmacy experience or graduation from an ASHP-accredited residency program preferred
- Fulfills mandatory stroke education requirements per certification agency
License Required:
Valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of California
