About the role:

The People Team Coordinator is an entry-level, full-time position that provides hands-on experience across all core People Team functions - including Team Engagement, Talent Acquisition, People Business Partners, HR Systems, project management, event planning, and facilities operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to grow their career in Human Resources at 8am.
This role requires a one-year commitment. Upon the one-year anniversary, and pending exemplary performance and role availability, the individual may be considered for a more focused role within the People Team.

What you'll do:

  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide direct support to the Senior Manager of Team Engagement while also receiving direction from members of the People Leadership Team and Engagement Team.
  • Internal Engagement & Culture: Contribute to initiatives that foster community and connection company-wide, aligning with leadership to promote 8am’s values and culture.
  • Administrative Coordination: Assist with monthly expense reports for the Chief People Officer and Engagement Team; liaise with Accounting to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Office Experience Management: Maintain a high-quality in-office experience for employees and guests. This includes upkeep of shared spaces, front desk, breakrooms, and the mail system.
  • Facilities & Vendor Oversight: Coordinate with building management and vendors to ensure smooth operations and facility standards.
  • Hybrid Workplace Operations: Manage hybrid work processes, including workspace reservations and scheduling logistics.
  • Event & Project Support: Assist with planning, setup, and teardown for company events.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Track and report on in-office and engagement-related metrics, including workspace usage, attendance, and badge data.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Talent Acquisition, Business Partners, and Engagement teams to understand employee needs and support ongoing initiatives.

About you:

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in an office environment, ideally with exposure to HR or administrative responsibilities.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
  • Location: Must be based in Austin, TX, and available for in-office work.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Excel and spreadsheet creation for planning and tracking purposes.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with poise and professionalism
  • Familiarity with AI Tools: Exposure to or interest in using AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, Notion AI, or scheduling assistants (e.g., Clockwise, Reclaim).
  • Process Improvement Mindset: Demonstrated interest in exploring technology solutions - including AI - to make HR and workplace processes more efficient and engaging.
  • Learning Agility with Technology: Comfortable experimenting with emerging tools and adapting quickly to new platforms and digital workflows.
  • Data Curiosity: Willingness to use AI-generated insights to support decisions related to team engagement, space usage, and operational improvements.

Essential physical duties and tasks:

  • Ability to lift materials and decor for events.
  • Set up and tear down for internal functions and meetings.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • This is a full-time position. 8am primarily operates on a Monday-Friday schedule in Central Time. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. 
  • Location: Austin, Texas (In-office 8:30-4 Tues-Thurs; In-office as needed Mon/Fri and during onsite events)
  • Travel: Occasional, including extended hours during events
