About the RoleThe People Strategy Specialist (PSS) will be responsible for building and running Metal’s people operations function from the ground up. This is a high-impact role that combines recruiting, organizational design, HR operations, and culture building.
You’ll manage the entire recruitment lifecycle, maintain the applicant tracking system (ATS), collaborate with hiring managers to define roles, and drive the end-to-end candidate experience. Beyond hiring, you’ll own core people operations — including onboarding, contracts, payroll coordination, company policies, and engagement initiatives.
This is an ideal role for someone who’s passionate about shaping company culture, operational excellence, and people systems in a fast-scaling tech environment.
What You’ll DoRecruitment & Hiring
Manage the ATS end-to-end: role setup, pipeline management, candidate tracking, and reporting.
Source and recruit candidates across multiple roles and functions.
Partner with hiring managers to create clear, compelling job descriptions and scorecards.
Run structured interview processes with a focus on quality, speed, and fairness.
Build a consistent candidate experience aligned with Metal’s values.
People Operations
Manage employment contracts, extensions, and onboarding documentation.
Coordinate payroll and benefits with our finance partners.
Maintain accurate employee records and compliance documentation.
Support the setup of HR systems, databases, and performance tracking tools.
Draft and maintain company policies (PTO, code of conduct, hybrid/remote guidelines, etc.).
Culture & Engagement
Organize company-wide events, offsites, and team-building activities.
Drive internal communication initiatives that build alignment and morale.
Gather and act on feedback to continuously improve employee engagement.
Partner with leadership on org design, performance cycles, and growth frameworks.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience managing recruitment processes or people operations (startup or tech environment preferred).
Proficiency with ATS tools (Lever, Ashby, Workable, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of hiring best practices and candidate experience design.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple roles and deadlines in parallel.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with global team members.
Preferred
Experience setting up or optimizing HR/recruiting systems and workflows.
Exposure to early-stage startups or remote-first companies.
Familiarity with employment contracts, payroll systems, and compliance basics.
Proven ability to organize company events or build engagement programs.
