This role is a hybrid position
Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston and Santa Barbara office locations.

As a People Partner supporting the Business Functions, you will play a key role in supporting managers and employees within the Marketing & Finance, IT teams.

In this role, you will work closely with the Director, People Partners and business leaders, contributing to core People team initiatives, advising managers on people-related matters, and ensuring smooth execution of People programs. You will also partner with the COEs across the People function, including Talent Acquisition, Talent and Employee Relations, and Compensation & Benefits. The People Partner takes action; you are part of a team of builders and doers. You work each day to enable teams and leaders to make hard things possible.

What You’ll Do: 

People Partnering & Business Support

  • Partner with managers and employees to provide guidance on key people-related topics, including performance management, talent development, and engagement.

  • Develop strong relationships with managers within the Marketing & Finance, IT teams, building trust and credibility as a People advisor.

  • In partnership with your manager, support managers in translating business goals into people strategies, ensuring alignment with functional & company priorities. 

  • Demonstrate ability to interface with company leadership & effectively influence & coach.

People Program Implementation & Execution

  • Partner with People COEs to implement company-wide People programs and initiatives within the Marketing & Finance, IT organization.

  • Provide input and business context to ensure People programs meet the needs of the teams you support.

  • Help drive adoption and success of key People processes, such as talent reviews, engagement initiatives, and performance management cycles. 

Coaching & Employee Relations

  • Offer first-line People support to managers and employees, escalating complex issues to senior People Partners or Employee Relations as needed.

  • Hold up the mirror to managers & leaders via constructive coaching to highlight areas of opportunity & growth with their leadership. 

  • Proficient conflict resolution skills, with an approach rooted in curiosity, inquiry, and advocacy, ensuring difficult conversations lead to productive outcomes.

  • Support managers in handling performance management processes, including goal setting, documentation feedback conversations, and termination coaching & processes. 

  • Act as a resource for employees, providing guidance on policies, career development, and workplace concerns.

  • Ability to handle difficult and sensitive conversations, inclusive of termination decisions. 

Operational & Process Excellence

  • Ensure smooth execution of People processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency, through strong collaboration capabilities. 

  • Proficient in core areas of the People Team and compliance, with good understanding of how the processes & partnerships work at Sonos, including: ADA, FMLA & Leaves, FLSA, & core employee relations issues. 

  • Partner with Finance and TA partners on headcount management, organizational needs, and processes. 

  • Collaborate with People Operations and Shared Services to manage routine People tasks and escalations.

  • Use People data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, working with senior People Partners to develop solutions. This includes providing insights on attrition, engagement, performance trends, and organizational health.

What You’ll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience within related functions and 1 to 2 years in People Partner roles.

  • Previous People experience in a generalist, business partner, or specialist role, with exposure to areas such as employee relations, talent management, performance management, or compensation.

  • Strong foundational knowledge of baseline People principles, labor laws, and best practices.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to coach managers, influence without authority, and build trust quickly.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail.

  • A growth mindset with a willingness to learn, take on new challenges, and develop expertise in the People Partner function.

  • Comfortable working with People data and using insights to drive recommendations.

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:

$87,000 and $108,400

The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market.  Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of  the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
