Why Numeric?

Every business relies on accounting. Yet most software in the space was built in the early 2000s — clunky, slow, and far behind the curve on AI. Today, accountants are facing a growing, unsolved data problem as a consequence of complexity, data, and system fragmentation — and they lack the tools to solve it. The problems are real, hard, and increasingly urgent. But they’re solvable.

Enter Numeric — the modern platform for accounting and finance. We're building the platform that realizes the dream of live, rich, trustworthy data and insights for companies to drive decision-making & execution.

We tackle foundational challenges required to automate ingest, transformation, matching, projection, and reporting for an end-to-end graph of financial data. Weaving together data, automation, workflows, and AI-first experiences, we’re empowering accounting teams to own the continuous window into companies' finances and activity.

We have strong product market fit and a growing base of customers who love our product — including Anthropic, Brex, OpenAI, Plaid, Wealthfront, and many more. We’re backed by top-tier investors including IVP, Menlo Ventures, Founders Fund, and 8VC, along with founders and executives from Ramp, Segment, and other category-defining companies.

About the role

We’re growing quickly and need someone to help build the foundation that makes that growth feel great. As we move into a new San Francisco office and scale our team, you’ll own the office experience, the onboarding journey for every new hire, and the details that make people genuinely excited to come in every day.

This is a foundational role. You’ll be one of the first people new employees interact with at Numeric, and you’ll shape what that experience feels like from day one.

What You'll Do
  • Help shape the office as we grow, including layout, improvements, and evolving team needs.

  • Oversee day-to-day SF office operations, including supplies, mail, vendors, and facilities.

  • Build and manage vendor relationships across catering, supplies, cleaning, IT, and more.

  • Own the full onboarding journey for every new hire, from equipment and system access to welcome kits, Day 1 schedules, and State of the Union (SOTU) orientation sessions.

  • Maintain and improve the checklists, docs, and processes that keep onboarding consistent and scalable.

  • Manage offboarding, including equipment returns and access deprovisioning.

  • Keep employee records accurate and support HRIS administration (we use Rippling).

  • Run recruiting onsites at the SF office and ensure every candidate has a great experience.

  • Keep the space stocked and welcoming, from snacks and coffee to the small touches that make coming in feel worth it.

  • Own the office budget, track expenses, and suggest smart ways to invest it.

There’s real room to grow. You can go deeper into People Operations, take on broader HR responsibilities, and help shape how Numeric attracts and retains a world-class team. This role is a launchpad 🚀

About You

You take pride in doing the behind-the-scenes work exceptionally well. You notice what others miss, fix problems before they surface, and care about making the people around you feel supported.

  • You’re organized. You build systems, follow through, and enjoy staying on top of many moving parts.

  • You’re proactive. You spot gaps, take ownership, and make things happen without waiting for direction.

  • You communicate clearly. You write well, speak confidently, and adapt your tone to your audience.

  • You work well independently. You thrive in a fast-moving environment with light guidance and still get the details right.

  • You’re warm and service-oriented. You naturally focus on the experience of the people around you.

  • You’re based in San Francisco and excited to be in the office five days a week.

Bonus if you have 1–3+ years of experience in office management, people ops, executive assistance, or similar roles (startup experience is a plus, not required). Experience with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, or Rippling is helpful, as is setting up a new office, working in tech/SaaS, or an interest in growing into a broader People Ops career over time.

How we work

This role is in-person in San Francisco.

We strongly believe we will only be successful if everyone on the team is anchored in our following set of core principles:

  • Own the Outcome: We own our results. We typically hire builders and give them large mandates with high-trust. Engineers are responsible not just for code, but for ensuring the product is solving the end problems of the users.

  • Brick by Brick: To win, our team needs to show up and execute in each domain every day.

  • Love the Game: We focus on the craft and a deep sense of giving a f*ck. We’re building a company full of people who are equally engaged and motivated.

  • Earn the right: Our ability to rethink how things are done depends on the trust and reputation we build by shipping quality products and improving the lives of our users.

  • SALY: We refuse to accept “Same As Last Year.” We bring fresh eyes to a stagnated and underserved domain. We’re driven by a first-principles approach to building better solutions.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
