About Moon

Moon is an ambitious, independent vertical SaaS company incubated by Home Organizers, a market leader with decades of proven success in home organization through its subsidiaries, including Closet World, Closets by Design, and Brio Water Technology. Born inside one of the industry's largest operators — 6,000+ employees, hundreds of thousands of new customers served annually — Moon is built on a rare advantage: we build for the home improvement industry from within it.

Our mission is to reinvent the home improvement experience end to end. From AI-driven marketing and in-home 3D design to sales, service, and operations, Moon unifies the entire customer and business journey on a single platform — supercharged by Luna, our proprietary AI engine. Where most operators stitch together disconnected tools that don't understand the homeowner, we're building the unified operating system the industry has never had. We're a rapidly growing team of committed builders, driven to reimagine how this industry sells, designs, and delivers — and to power the next generation of operators, from single-location dealers to national franchise networks.

Role Overview

You will run the day-to-day operations of the people function for Moon - and support a sister company organization with 80+ employees: onboarding that works, an HRIS configured properly, benefits and compliance handled cleanly, and the people data that performance and goal systems depend on.

About the role

You will join reporting to the VP of People, building the operational layer for two organizations in a period of rapid growth. Your onboarding program is the first thing every new hire experiences - and with the hiring plan ahead, that is a lot of first impressions.

What you'll do

Build and run onboarding with structured 15/30/45-day checkpoints, measured and consistently executed.

Administer and configure Rippling: profiles, workflows, goal tracking, performance cycles, reporting.

Own benefits administration and California employment compliance.

Build the systems and processes that keep people data clean, secure, and compliant - with tracking, measurement, and SLAs that define what good looks like.

Run the HR helpdesk: answer benefits and policy questions with fast, documented resolutions.

Help investigate HR claims - and build the investigation process itself: intake, documentation, timelines, escalation.

Partner with the VP of People and the Finance department to build and administer the company's first-ever bonus and equity programs.

Put proper agreements, processes, and training in place - working with the VP of People and counsel - to minimize company liability.

Keep people data clean - dashboards, reviews, and bonus systems depend on it.

Qualifications

4+ years in people operations at a technology company.

Hands-on Rippling administration experience strongly preferred.

   California employment practice familiarity.

Process builder: documents, automates, and improves - doesn't just execute.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
