About the role:

Monte Carlo is looking for a People Operations Manager to support our growing global team by managing key HR operations and ensuring a seamless employee experience. Reporting to the Global Head of Culture, you'll play a critical tactical role in executing our People vision, including handling core People processes like compliance, benefits, offboarding, and systems management. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with hands-on experience in People Operations and a passion for building efficient, employee-friendly processes in a fast-paced environment.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Benefits Administration: Manage annual open enrollment; support global benefits through platforms like Deel and Remote; assist employees with benefits questions and life events.

  • HR Programs & Operations: Execute and maintain HR policies and documentation; support HRIS implementation (HiBob); ensure smooth day-to-day operations and issue resolution.

  • Employee Lifecycle: Manage the onboarding/offboarding process end-to-end, including compliance, system (de)provisioning, coordination with cross-functional partners, and analysis of new hire/exit trends.

  • Compliance & Training: Manage mandatory training programs; stay current on employment law updates and state-specific compliance requirements.

  • Immigration & International HR: Support visa processes and assist with international employee operations and compliance.

  • Process Optimization: Design and iterate on scalable People processes to support our global growth.

We’re excited about you because you have:

  • 5+ years of HR operations experience, ideally in a high-growth tech or startup environment.

  • Deep understanding of People Ops fundamentals: compliance, benefits administration, and employee lifecycle processes.

  • Experience managing onboarding and offboarding workflows across multiple geographies.

  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms (experience with HiBob a plus).

  • Analytical thinking and comfort working with employee data to surface insights and improvements.

  • Excellent attention to detail, follow-through, and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication abilities; you collaborate well with others and provide a great employee experience.

  • A proactive mindset—you’re always looking to streamline, improve, and elevate People processes.

  • You thrive in an environment that values speed, ownership, and iteration

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
