Who We Are:

We deploy powerful AI agents in complex, regulated industries, specializing in building the systems that enable autonomous agents to operate entire functions securely and reliably. Our belief is that people should be free of administrative and operational drudgery so they can create value through creativity, reasoning, and judgement.

We’re starting in higher education, a sector with ~$700B in expenses defined by heavy workflows across departments, such as admissions, financial aid, facilities, advising, student services, advancement, and more. Our agents are already embedded across these departments, interacting with millions of students and staff. They process applications, package aid, resolve verification issues, run large-scale communication workflows, handle student support tickets, and more.

We believe that universities are among the most consequential institutions in the world, sitting at the foundation of social and economic progress. Improving how they operate improves who gets educated, who gets supported, and who gets a chance. When higher education runs better, everything built on top of it does too.

About the role:

We’re looking for a People Operations Generalist to support the day-to-day operations of the People team, ensuring a seamless employee experience across the employee lifecycle. This role is responsible for the administrative and operational backbone of People Operations, including onboarding, benefits administration, employee records management, and people data reporting.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive about improving processes and systems. They will work closely with leadership and cross-functional partners to ensure accurate people data, efficient operations, and compliant HR practices while helping scale and automate People processes as the company enters an exciting growth stage.

Responsibilities
  • Own the operations of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding and offboarding processes

  • Manage all administrative tasks related to new hires, including building out onboarding roadmaps, system setup, and tracking completion of tasks

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation across HR systems

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, life event changes, and employee questions, while managing our relationship with our benefits broker

  • Track and report on key people metrics such as headcount, hiring activity, attrition, and other workforce insights

  • Identify opportunities to improve People Operations processes and implement system improvements or automations

  • Support HR compliance by maintaining required documentation and assisting with audits or reporting needs

  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for employee questions related to HR processes, policies, and benefits

  • Contribute to special projects and operational improvements across the People function

What We’re Looking For:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, particularly when handling confidential or sensitive information

  • Strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset when supporting employees

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and keep processes moving in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfortable working with HR systems, spreadsheets, and people data

  • Adaptability and comfort working in a fast-growing environment where priorities evolve quickly

  • Strong sense of ownership and follow-through

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
