As a People Operations Generalist, you'll improve processes and systems for onboarding, offboarding, compliance, and employee experience while partnering across the company to build a positive culture.
Summary
In this role, you’ll be the first dedicated People Operations hire at Imbue, owning and evolving the systems, processes, and programs that support our team, so they can focus on doing their best work. From onboarding to offboarding, compliance to compensation, you’ll be at the center of building a thoughtful and scalable foundation for how we work and grow together.
Working closely with the Operations team and partnering across the company, you’ll shape the team member experience with a strong focus on operational excellence, culture, and care. You’ll be hands-on in the early days, streamlining what’s already in place, setting up what’s missing, and helping us continue to build the kind of workplace we’re proud to be part of as we scale.
Example Projects
• Own and improve our onboarding experience end-to-end, from pre-start logistics to first-week programming, ensuring every new hire feels welcomed, equipped to be successful, and connected from day one.
• Own and continuously refine key company processes, including offboarding, leave tracking, benefits administration, immigration, equity and cap table management, and more.
• Maintain and update personnel policies and documentation to stay compliant with employment laws across multiple U.S. states, partnering with legal when needed.
• Take over our visa and immigration process, working closely with external counsel and internal team members. Build a clear, scalable pathway for future international hires.
• Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that strengthen our culture, ranging from people programs and office strategy to company-wide events and internal communications. You’ll translate insights (from team member feedback and pulse surveys) into action, driving initiatives that reflect our values and help our team thrive.
You Are
• A hands-on builder who’s excited to create structure from scratch and make things better every time you touch them. You think systematically.
• Passionate about people and process. You care about the details and how they impact someone’s experience at work.
• Well-versed in HR operations, compliance, and systems, with a strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, especially in an in-person and remote culture spread across states and different countries.
• A strong writer and thoughtful communicator, with the ability to work cross-functionally across all company groups.
Compensation and Benefits
• Generous compensation, equity, and benefits.
• Lunch provided daily.
• $250 lifestyle stipend per month.
• Frequent team events, dinners, and off-sites.
The base salary for this range is $150,000 - $200,000 a year.
How to apply

We know that talent comes from many backgrounds, and we aim to build a team with diverse skill sets that spike strongly in different areas.
We try to reply either way within a week or two at most (usually much sooner).
About us
Imbue builds AI systems that reason and code, enabling AI agents to accomplish larger goals and safely work in the real world. We train our own foundation models optimized for reasoning and prototype agents on top of these models. By using these agents extensively, we gain insights into improving both the capabilities of the underlying models and the interaction design for agents.
We aim to rekindle the dream of the *personal* computer, where computers become truly intelligent tools that empower us, giving us freedom, dignity, and agency to pursue the things we love.

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
