Samba connects the advertising industry. Today, a trillion dollars of media flows through platforms that don’t talk to each other, and each one measures its own results. We built the independent alternative: consented first-party data and AI that give the world’s biggest advertisers, publishers, and platforms one clear view across all of it.

The next era of advertising will run on AI agents, and those agents will need data they can trust. We’re building that foundation, and the agents that act on it. Join us and help build what the industry runs on.

About the Role
You support the operational backbone of Samba's People & Culture function, keeping the employee lifecycle running smoothly, from onboarding and benefits administration to payroll coordination, HR documentation, HR information system (HRIS) reporting, and compliance support. You work closely with HR leadership and cross-functional teams. It's ideal for someone who enjoys HR operations, working with systems and data, and creating a seamless employee experience.

What You'll Do
  • Support the Lifecycle: Support employee lifecycle operations, including onboarding, offboarding, and employment changes, and generate HR documents such as employment letters, policy acknowledgements, and templates, managing e-signature workflows.
  • Administer Benefits: Assist with benefits administration, including employee enrollments, updates, vendor coordination, and open enrollment execution.
  • Own HR Data: Maintain and audit HRIS data integrity (Rippling or similar), run reports, and extract and organize HR data across platforms, manipulating datasets in Google Sheets for reporting.
  • Partner on Payroll: Partner with Payroll and Finance to ensure employee data, compensation updates, and benefit deductions are accurately reflected for payroll processing.
  • Be the First Contact: Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee HR inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies, benefits, and processes.
  • Maintain Compliance: Maintain compliance with federal, California, and local employment regulations and HR recordkeeping, and coordinate immigration and visa documentation tracking with external counsel.
  • Improve HR Programs: Support HR initiatives including performance cycles, engagement surveys, and employee programs, and help improve HR workflows by maintaining documentation and supporting scalable processes.

What You Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in HR, People Operations, or HR administration, with a strong interest in building expertise across HR operations and the employee lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms such as Rippling, Workday, or BambooHR, able to navigate systems independently, generate basic reports, and organize operational datasets in Google Sheets.
  • Experience supporting benefits administration, onboarding, payroll coordination, or HR documentation, with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization across multiple tasks.
  • Organized and process-oriented, comfortable following established HR policies while helping improve processes that are still developing, and handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills and a people-first mindset, providing clear, professional support to employees and managers.
  • Proactive, motivated, curious, and humble: you take ownership and follow through, ask thoughtful questions, bring a roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic, and contribute wherever the team needs.
  • Preferred: PHR, SHRM-CP, or California HR certification, visa, immigration, and I-9 experience, startup or high-growth experience, and familiarity with HR workflow or automation tools such as Rippling.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
