About the Role

We’re seeking a self-starting, detail-oriented People Operation Coordinator. You’ll be stepping into a position that requires confidence with People Operations fundamentals and a strong ability to operate independently. You’ll support our People Operations team and help drive day-to-day People Ops functions, such as supporting the Muon team, onboarding communications, and aiding in important People Ops initiatives. This position reports to the People Operations Manager.
You’ll thrive in this role if you’re energized by fast-moving environments, enjoy solving problems autonomously, lead with empathy, and feel comfortable supporting a distributed workforce.

This position is onsite and requires working in our San Jose, CA office five days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary, employee-facing point of contact for day-to-day People Ops questions, guiding team members to the right resources, policies, and tools with empathy and speed.
  • Onboarding: Partner closely with team members to support a seamless onboarding process, managing welcome communications, schedule coordination, and administrative setup for all new hires across a distributed workforce.
  • Feedback Loops: Build and schedule onboarding feedback surveys (e.g., in Lattice) to help improve the early employee experience.
  • Internal Docs: Help create and maintain up-to-date wikis, FAQs, and self-serve documentation so employees can quickly find answers on their own.
  • HRIS & Data Hygiene: Help maintain accurate employee records and profile updates within the HRIS (title changes, manager updates, transfers) to ensure strong data integrity.
  • Benefits & Routine Admin: Assist with general benefits inquiries, open enrollment tasks, and directing employees to appropriate leave-of-absence resources when needed.
  • People Programs Support: Provide operational support for broader People Ops initiatives, including company-wide Pulse surveys, performance review cycles, and team culture efforts.
Requirements
  • 0-1 years of experience preferred in HR, People Operations, or similar function (internships, co-ops or campus involvement in recruiting/HR welcome).
  • Serve as a trusted first point of contact for employees, handling inquiries with professionalism, empathy, discretion, and a high degree of autonomy.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and sharp attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across tasks and documentation.
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment and discretion
  • A track record of going deeper than required in something, driven by your own curiosity rather than a requirement
  • Comfortable navigating tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, and Rippling; quickly adapts to new systems and workflows.
Nice to Have
  • Previous experience in a start-up or high-growth company (as we value fast-paced execution).
  • Interest in scaling People Ops processes and documentation and continuous improvement.
  • Naturally curious about AI tools, always exploring new ones to work faster and more accurately, without being told to.
  • A genuine passion for supporting team members and expanding your People Operations skillset.
Salary

The salary range for this role is $89,000 - $98,0000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
