We are looking for a People Operations Associate to help continue to make Shift an awesome place to work! You’ll be responsible for partnering with business leaders in our 200+ operations teams.
 
- Act as the first point of contact for our employees, team leads, managers and GMs in each of our hub locations (e.g. South SF, LA, San Diego) across a variety of areas including performance management, employee relations, learning and development, engagement, compliance, compensation and benefits
- Partner with General Managers to ensure successful onboarding of new hires, ongoing coaching of employees and talent identification, succession planning and development
- Coach and advise employees on a variety of topics including career growth and development, as well as company policies, and new People Ops programs
- Partner with other People Ops members to implement and ensure alignment with programs and policies and to build a unified culture
- Identify gaps, and propose and implement changes necessary to ensure our People Ops programs and strategies are effective as we scale
- Provide guidance in employee relations matters
- Recommend and partner with managers on compensation, including internal equity comparisons of, external market conditions, and other job offers
- Balance employee needs with business needs when making decisions
- Coach managers and help them to be effective leaders and great coaches for their employees
- Advocate and cultivate a great work environment and culture
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws. Work with People Operations team and legal to mitigate HR related risks

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-6 years of Coordinator or Generalist experience in a retail, sales or service- oriented environment
  • Experience with high turnover and high volume staffing environments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter and comfortable working in an unstructured evolving start-up environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to interface with all levels of the organization
  • Good judgement and ability to handle confidential / sensitive issues
