About persona

Persona is the configurable identity platform built for businesses in a digital-first world. Verifying individuals and organizations is harder — but more important — than ever, with AI enabling fraudsters to launch sophisticated accounts at scale and regulations evolving rapidly. We've built Persona to support practically every use case and industry — that’s why we’re able to serve a wide range of leading companies. For example, Instacart relies on Persona to verify shoppers who are onboard onto their platform before delivering groceries to your doorstep. Meanwhile, OpenAI relies on Persona to keep bad actors out, protecting one of the world’s most powerful AI platforms from large-scale abuse in a time when AI is reshaping the way we work and live. We believe that making the internet safer and more human requires a team that reflects the diverse, global nature of the people we aim to serve. We’re growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to join us.

About the role

As a People Operations Business Partner, you’ll help build and support high-performing Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) teams. You’ll work closely with leads of all levels to drive talent development, improve team engagement, and navigate organizational changes—all while fostering a culture of growth and collaboration. Reporting to the Senior People Operations Business Partner, you’ll be hands-on in solving workplace challenges, optimizing processes, and contributing to broader People Ops initiatives that scale with the company. If you're passionate about empowering teams, driving impact, and helping people do their best work, we’d love to have you on board! This role is primarily based in our San Francisco office, with required in-office days Tuesday through Thursday. Relocation assistance is available for anyone located outside the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you'll do at persona

  • Be a People Ops champion. Shape and support initiatives that align with business goals, improve processes, and strengthen our culture.
  • Support employees and managers. Provide guidance and work cross-functionally to ensure people programs meet business needs and foster a culture of trust.
  • Drive people programs. Design and execute initiatives focused on talent development, engagement, and performance within EPD.
  • Guide teams through change. Develop communications and resources that help leaders navigate organizational shifts and new policies.
  • Grow talent. Support learning and development programs that empower employees and managers to reach their full potential.
  • Elevate performance. Assist with performance reviews, engagement surveys, and action planning to continuously improve how we work together.

What you'll bring to persona

  • Empathy and understanding. You create a supportive environment where employees feel valued, and coach managers to foster trust.
  • Collaboration skills. You work closely with people at all levels to align people programs with business needs.
  • Adaptability. You help teams navigate change by developing clear, effective communications for organizational shifts, new policies, and company-wide initiatives.
  • Data-driven mindset. You use insights to inform decisions, optimize processes, and improve people strategies.
  • Growth-focused. You welcome feedback, adapt quickly, and always look for ways to improve.
  • HR experience. You have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in roles such as HR Associate, HR Generalist, or HR Consultant, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
