Solace is a healthcare advocacy marketplace that connects patients and families to experts who help them understand and take charge of their personal health

About Solace

Healthcare in the U.S. is fundamentally broken. The system is so complex that 88% of U.S. adults don’t have the health literacy necessary to navigate it without help. Solace cuts through the red tape of healthcare by pairing patients and families with expert advocates—empowering them to make better decisions and achieve better outcomes.

We’re a Series B startup, founded in 2022 and backed by Inspired Capital, Craft Ventures, Torch Capital, Menlo Ventures, and SignalFire. Our remote team is lean, mission-driven, and growing fast.

Solace isn’t a place to coast. We’re here to redefine healthcare—and that demands urgency, precision, and heart. If you’re looking to stretch yourself, sharpen your edge, and do the best work of your life alongside a team that cares deeply, you’re in the right place.

About the Role

As a People Operations Associate at Solace, you’ll be the backbone of our employee experience and operational excellence. You’ll own critical moments in the employee lifecycle—from onboarding and offboarding to compliance, procurement, and recruiting coordination. You’ll bring structure, speed, and empathy to everything you touch, ensuring our people operations run smoothly and scale efficiently.

You’ll work closely with the Head of People and collaborate across teams—including Finance, and Recruiting—with direct visibility to the CEO. This is an opportunity to help shape the foundation of a fast-growing healthcare startup.

What You’ll Do

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Own the end-to-end onboarding experience: prepare systems access, equipment, and documentation to ensure every new hire feels supported from day one.

  • Coordinate welcome communications, training schedules, and first-week logistics.

  • Manage offboarding with care, ensuring a compliant, secure, and positive transition for departing team members.

Compliance & Systems

  • Maintain compliance with federal and state employment regulations.

  • Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure documentation, I-9 verification, and policy adherence are always audit-ready.

  • Manage our HR systems and ensure data accuracy across all people platforms.

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate procurement of equipment, software, and benefits-related tools.

  • Maintain relationships with key vendors and oversee renewals, invoices, and inventory.

  • Support budget tracking for People Operations initiatives.

Recruiting Coordination

  • Partner with hiring managers and recruiters to schedule interviews, manage candidate communications, and ensure a world-class candidate experience.

  • Track recruiting metrics and help optimize hiring processes as we scale.

General People Operations

  • Support the administration of benefits, payroll inputs, and employee engagement initiatives.

  • Assist in planning company-wide events, offsites, and internal communications.

  • Identify process improvements that make Solace more efficient and delightful to work at.

Who You Are
  • You’re a systems thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and naturally brings order to chaos.

  • You’re detail-oriented, proactive, and calm under pressure.

  • You take ownership—when you see a gap, you fill it.

  • You’re passionate about building a great employee experience and supporting a mission-driven team.

  • You can handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

What You Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in People Operations, HR, Recruiting Coordination, or Administrative Operations in a high-growth or high-pressure environment.

  • Strong project management and communication skills.

  • Experience managing tools like Notion, Gusto, Deel, or Ashby (or similar systems).

  • Familiarity with HR compliance and employment regulations.

  • A bias toward action and accountability—you love getting things done.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in healthcare or with credentialing workflows.

  • Exposure to benefits administration, payroll support, or procurement.

  • Previous startup experience where you wore multiple hats.

Why You’ll Love Working at Solace
  • Mission-driven team changing the future of healthcare.

  • High-impact role with visibility across the organization.

  • Collaborative, remote-first culture.

  • Opportunity to grow as we scale our team and operational foundations.

Applicants must be based in the United States.

Up for the Challenge?

We look forward to meeting you.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
