We are scaling our global workforce rapidly and are looking for a seasoned Global Payroll Manager to own our payroll operations, drive automation, and ensure world-class compliance. 

Job Summary: 

The Global Payroll Manager will own the end-to-end payroll process for our U.S. and international employees. This role requires a proactive leader with deep technical payroll expertise in a multi-jurisdictional environment, superior analytical skills, and experience scaling payroll functions. You will partner with HR and Finance and ensure 100% compliance with tax regulations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all worker types (exempt, non-exempt, international contractors) across multiple states and countries.
  • Manage Federal, State, and local payroll tax requirements, as well as international compliance through local partners.
  • Oversee end-to-end processing for U.S. and international employees, including base pay, commissions, bonuses, and equity transactions (stock options, stock awards), accounting (journal entries, reconciliations).
  • Act as the functional lead for payroll systems (e.g., BambooHR, Rippling, Sequoia One), leading implementations, upgrades, and automating manual processes.
  • Enhance internal controls and documentation to ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance and Legal. 
  • Drive payroll-related audits, including insurance and 401k audits.
  • Serve as point of contact for payroll inquiries, resolving issues with accuracy and empathy.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience: 8-10+ years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within a high-growth high-tech, public technology company.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Expert-level knowledge of BambooHR, Rippling, Sequoia One preferred.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with equity-based payroll.
  • Experience managing global payroll providers in EMEA/APAC.
  • Proactive, self-motivate, organized, and comfortable with ambiguity and change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to details and hands-on.
