The Role

As the Payroll Manager at ThoughtSpot, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations for our U.S. and Canadian employees. Partnering closely with Finance, HR, Stock, and leadership teams, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring a seamless and transparent payroll experience. This role blends technical payroll expertise with strategic process improvements to help scale and optimize our operations as our company grows.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage end-to-end U.S. payroll (semi-monthly) via ADP Workforce Now (WFN) and oversee Canadian payroll via ADP Teampay, including equity, bonuses, and commissions.

  • Perform payroll reconciliations with accounting records and prepare related journal entries in the general ledger.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and international payroll regulations while maintaining strong internal controls.

  • Lead quarterly (QTD), annual (YTD), and wage/tax (W&T) reconciliations; oversee W-2 and T4 review processes.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Stock, and external vendors to resolve payroll issues, develop reports, and support audits (e.g., 401(k), Workers’ Compensation).

  • Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for payroll systems, policies, and compliance.

  • Drive payroll process improvements, automation, and documentation to support scalability.

  • Communicate clearly and supportively with employees to foster trust and a positive payroll experience.

  • Provide strategic guidance on payroll best practices and compliance to business leaders.

What You Bring:

  • 7+ years of payroll experience, including at least 3+ years leading payroll operations in a high-growth, global technology environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. multi-state payroll and Canadian payroll practices.

  • Strong proficiency with ADP Workforce Now (U.S.) and ADP Teampay (Canada); familiarity with Workday HRIS preferred.

  • In-depth understanding of tax, benefits, and compliance requirements across jurisdictions.

  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and build strong cross-functional partnerships.

  • High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills with a focus on automation.

  • Comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts simply.

  • Team-oriented approach with strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.The estimated annual salary range for this role is $120,000 – $140,000 per year.

Actual compensation may vary and will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location of the selected candidate.
