About the Role

OpenLoop is looking for a Payroll Analyst to join our team remotely or at HQ in Des Moines, IA. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and processing payroll across multiple EINs and states, ensuring compliance with all payroll tax regulations, and delivering a high-quality experience for both employees and contractors. This role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of payroll operations, and a collaborative mindset.

What You'll Do

  • Process end-to-end payroll for W-2 employees and 1099 contractors across multiple states and EINs.
  • Ensure accurate payroll tax filings and payments at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Respond to and resolve tax agency notices; support audits as needed.
  • Reconcile payroll data, identify discrepancies, and take corrective action.
  • Collaborate with People and Finance teams to maintain data accuracy and improve processes.
  • Provide timely, professional support to employees regarding payroll inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing and complex payroll tax compliance/registration required.
  • Experience with multi-state and multi-EIN payroll operations highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements required.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive problem solver.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive data.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Rippling, ADP, Gusto, or similar.
  • Adaptable to new systems and able to troubleshoot integration issues.
