Job Description Summary:
The Patent Docket Specialist, Team Lead assists the Patent Docket Manager with leadership responsibilities, including: maintenance of patent docketing mailboxes and appropriate distribution of communication therein, promptly responding to questions from patent attorneys and support staff, and helping fellow patent docketing staff with the balancing of workload. Conducts training within Patent Docket Group as needed. Verifies that back-up coverage is in place when a member of the Patent Docket Group is out of office. Coordinates projects within the group through the creation and execution of plans that ensure deadlines are met through time management, division of work to appropriate staff, and regularly providing progress updates to Patent Docket Manager. Acts as liaison or proxy for Patent Docket Manager when requested due to PTO or scheduling conflicts.In addition, the Team Lead is responsible for performing calendaring/docket functions and assisting with the maintenance of the docket database for the Patent Group as needed.
This role can be based in any of our U.S. offices and offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to work both from home and in the office. The frequency of in-office work will be determined by business needs and guided by your department's directives. The work schedule for this position (non-exempt) will be 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, with flexibility and ability to work overtime, as needed.
Job Description:
- Review patent documents and correspondence for relevant deadlines.
- Calendar deadlines using docketing software.
- Respond to inquiries from attorneys and staff regarding docket entries.
- Prepare and distribute of docket reports.
- Act as foreign filing monitor for patent group.
- Process of incoming Patent Department mail.
- Assist with inbound/intake of new clients/matters.
- Assist with the maintenance, development, and implementation of docket procedures for the Patent Department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of U.S., PCT, and foreign patent docketing procedures.
- Knowledge of automated docketing applications (such as Patricia) preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal direction.
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Good computer and data entry skills.
Reporting to the Patent Docket Manager, the ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and 5+ years of previous docketing experience.

The anticipated range for this position is:
$84,000 - $120,000Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance. Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
