Our Mission
Healthcare should work for patients, but it doesn’t. In their time of need, they call down outdated insurance directories. Then wait on hold. Then wait weeks for the privilege of a visit. Then wait in a room solely designed for waiting. Then wait for a surprise bill. In any other consumer industry, the companies delivering such a poor customer experience would not survive. But in healthcare, patients lack market power. Which means they are expected to accept the unacceptable.
Zocdoc’s mission is to give power to the patient. To do that, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace that makes it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care in all 50 states, across +200 specialties and +12k insurance plans. By giving patients the ability to see and choose, we give them power. In doing so, we can make healthcare work like every other consumer sector, where businesses compete for customers, not the other way around. In time, this will drive quality up and prices down.
We’re 18 years old and the leader in our space, but we are still just getting started. If you like solving important, complex problems alongside deeply thoughtful, driven, and collaborative teammates, read on.
Zocdoc’s most important asset is our people. As a Partner Engineer, you’ll play a meaningful role in empowering healthcare partners, from EHRs to payors to syndicators, to connect with Zocdoc’s platform and build innovative solutions that make healthcare more accessible and efficient. You’ll help our partners succeed by providing hands-on technical guidance, ensuring seamless API integrations, and strengthening Zocdoc’s growing ecosystem.
You’ll enjoy this role if you are…- Personally motivated by helping others succeed through technology; you love seeing your work directly enable better healthcare access.
- Autonomous, urgent, and creative. You thrive in fast-moving, collaborative environments where no two integrations look exactly alike.
- Highly technical, with a knack for translating complex API concepts into clear, actionable steps for external developers.
- Passionate about clean documentation, elegant integrations, and empowering others through technical clarity.
- The kind of person who enjoys digging into logs and payloads one moment, and advising a partner on best practices the next.
- Serious about your work, but not about yourself, you bring humility, humor, and collaboration to everything you do.
- Taking full ownership of partner enablement, from reviewing API designs to advising on auth flows, rate limits, and error handling.
- Authentically collaborating across Product, BD, and Sales to bring partner use cases to life and ensure successful go-lives.
- Troubleshooting real-world integration issues (headers, payloads, logs) and driving them to resolution while documenting fixes for the next partner.
- Building and maintaining high-quality technical assets, documentation, Postman collections, and OpenAPI specs, to accelerate time-to-first-value.
- Supporting pre-sales discovery alongside BD and Sales for new use cases, and contributing to post-launch partner success.
- Working with cutting-edge GenAI tools and technology to improve technical support, documentation generation, and workflow automation.
- 3+ years of experience in API-centric roles such as software, solutions, or partner engineering.
- A deep understanding of REST/JSON APIs, HTTP fundamentals, and OAuth 2.0 authentication.
- Proficiency troubleshooting with tools like cURL, Postman, and modern log/trace platforms.
- Passion for bridging the gap between business and technology, and for enabling developers to succeed.
- A compassionate yet consultative approach, confident in your expertise but humble in delivery.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, SMART on FHIR, HL7) and major EHR systems like Epic or Cerner (a plus, not a requirement).
- The mentality of an entrepreneur and a strong bias for action ; you get things done and iterate fast.
- Superb communication skills. You believe in proactive, multi-channel communication to keep partners and stakeholders in sync.
- Humility. You treat everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of title or tenure.
