About Paxos

Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.

We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard and Interactive Brokers.

About the team

Our Compliance team is the cornerstone of Paxos' regulation-first approach, ensuring we maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance while enabling innovation. The team combines deep regulatory expertise with a practical understanding of blockchain technology to develop and implement robust compliance programs. We work closely with business units and product teams to create solutions that protect our company and customers while facilitating growth in both traditional and digital asset environments.

About the role

As a Compliance Program Manager, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive AML/CFT due diligence on Paxos' enterprise partnerships throughout their lifecycles. You'll work cross-functionally to contribute compliance expertise to risk reviews of new partner relationships while ensuring accurate compliance contributions to onboarding and ongoing reverse due diligence. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape compliance processes in an innovative fintech environment while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance.

What you'll do

  • Lead and execute AML/CFT due diligence processes for enterprise partnerships, from initial assessment through ongoing monitoring
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive compliance documentation, including risk assessments and program evaluations
  • Collaborate with Growth, Legal, Product and Operations teams to integrate compliance requirements seamlessly
  • Prepare and present monthly/quarterly KPI/KRI analysis on partners
  • Draft detailed compliance memos assessing AML/CFT programs and controls of partners
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for compliance processes and procedures
  • Coordinate effectively with the Governance, Risk, Oversight team and other stakeholders on enterprise risk management
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of compliance policies and controls

About you

  • 4+ years of experience in AML/CFT compliance, with focus on enhanced due diligence
  • Proven track record of managing complex compliance processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of financial crime compliance requirements and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience conducting thorough risk assessments and writing clear, comprehensive reports
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve how you work
  • Bachelor's degree required; relevant certifications (CAMS, ACAMS) preferred

Nice to have:

  • Experience in cryptocurrency or blockchain technology
  • Background in correspondent banking relationships
  • Third-party risk management experience
  • Exposure to fintech or digital payments platforms
  • Experience at a regulatory body (state or federal) or consulting firm

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
