POSITION SUMMARY
The Paralegal is responsible for
assisting the Legal Department in litigation and non-litigation tasks.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drafting basic legal documents
- Initial review of discovery response
- Gathering file material as requested by outside counsel
- Coordinating depositions of company personnel
- Preparing for and attending small claims court hearings (remote appearances)
- Monitoring litigation as requested by attorneys
- Maintaining roster of ongoing litigation
- Reviewing and ensuring timely and appropriate payment of legal bills and vendor fees
- Monitoring pending and new legislation
SKILLS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Individual initiative and self-starter
- Organizational and multitasking skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years of experience in a litigation practice
- California resident
- Bachelor’s degree
- Paralegal certification
- Familiar with the California Code of Civil Procedure
- Comfortable reviewing statutes and regulations
