Leads the paid media delivery team, serving as the internal expert for Google Ads, Meta Ads, social, and programmatic channels. About the role

As the Director, Paid Media, you'll own the paid media delivery team internally: the managers, specialists, and contractors who plan and run the work. You're the channel expert the team turns to, the person who keeps Google Ads, Meta Ads and channel mastery current across the group, and the one who builds automations that free the team from manual busywork.

You won't own the client relationship, and you won't own resourcing. You'll coordinate closely with the PMO so the team executing the work has the skills, tools, and standards to do it well, helping them understand who should be doing what type of work along the way.

If you'd rather build a system that runs without you than stay the bottleneck, coach a teammate instead of quietly doing the work yourself and see automation as core to the job instead of a side project, we want to talk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own execution for the paid media delivery team: managers, specialists, and contractors who plan and run the work.

  • Serve as the team's internal SME Google Ads, Meta Ads, social and programmatic channels, resolving escalations and keeping channel expertise current across the group.

  • Build and ship automations that cut manual work, documented well enough that the team runs without you in the room.

  • Coach and upskill the team on channel best practices, turning your expertise into repeatable team processes instead of keeping it to yourself.

  • Coordinate tightly with the PMO on resourcing and delivery, helping them understand who should be doing what type of work, without taking over scoping or client contact.

  • Track and pilot emerging paid channels, tools, and best practices to keep the team ahead of the industry instead of catching up to it.

What Success Looks Like

  • Your team stays certified and sharp on Google and Meta Ads, and they come to you first when something gets hard, not to an outside resource.

  • You're shipping new automations on a regular basis, and the team is actively using them, not letting them collect dust.

  • Paid media work moves through the project management pool clean and on time without surprises landing on their desk.

  • You and your team pilot the next channel or platform before the rest of the industry catches on, and document what you learn so it doesn't stay in your head.

  • When you build something new, someone else on the team can run it without you in the room within weeks, not months.

Who You Are

  • 7+ years in paid media, including 2+ years leading a team.

  • AI adoption: you already replace your own manual work with automation as a matter of course, and document it well enough that it runs without you.

  • Expert-level Google and Meta Ads practitioner, the person your team escalates to when they're stuck.

  • A coach who'd rather build the team up than hoard expertise for yourself.

  • Comfortable coordinating in lockstep with a PMO on resourcing and delivery, without needing to own it.

  • You do what you’ll say you’ll do, and when something slips, you say do directly without making excuses.

  • You treat paid media as a craft and a career, not a stepping stone.

  • Eligibility to work in Canada, the U.S., or ability to contract internationally.

  • Preference not required: you've worked in the travel industry before or have a particular passion for it.

What We Offer

  • Remote-first flexibility with a high-performing global team.

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans + 5% 401(k) match (US employees). Similar benefits for Canadian employees.

  • Generous PTO, company holidays, and an annual week-long destination company retreat.

  • A company-supplied MacBook

  • Wellhub or similar benefits for company-subsidized wellness/gym access

  • Annual budget for professional development and industry conferences.

  • A culture that values experimentation, autonomy, and radical candor.

Work Requirements

  • Reliable high-speed internet and comfort with virtual collaboration tools.

  • Availability for core work hours around 9a-5p U.S. Central Time.

  • Reasonable accommodations provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
