We’re a team of friends bound together by a mission to preserve our planet for future generations through innovative energy solutions and modern infrastructure. Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation.

Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. We’re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.

Location & Team Gatherings

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016.  We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About this role

As an Originator on Intersect's Origination and Trading team, you'll help support the marketing, structuring, and execution of energy off-take contracts. You will operate across two primary workstreams, with your time split between our power and natural gas origination and initiatives. In power origination, you will help support negotiating and closing long-term clean energy Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), BESS, and Gas Tolls for grid and off-grid projects. For the natural gas workstream, you will help support negotiating and closing pipeline firm transport and gas supply contracts. Partnering closely with Strategy, Development, and Modeling teams, you will navigate market ambiguities to turn complex opportunities into financeable, high-value transactions. This role is planned to start in November 2026.

Team overview

This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition. The Origination and Trading group is responsible for the sales, structuring, and execution of power and gas product agreements for the project pipeline, as well as managing merchant energy exposure for the operating fleet. Joining this team means shaping commercial strategy, driving high-stakes counterparty deals, and growing alongside collaborative experts focused on long-run infrastructure value.

What you'll do

Support Power Off-Take Structuring and PPA Execution

  • Drive the negotiation, structuring, and execution of long-term clean energy Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Gas tolls and BESS tolls for grid and off-grid projects.

  • Lead responses to customer solicitations and build financeable off-take structures tailored to utility, corporate, and industrial counterparties.

Support Natural Gas Infrastructure and Supply Strategy

  • Support natural gas origination initiatives, evaluating firm transportation, storage arrangements, and gas supply contracts with producers and marketers.

  • Assess natural gas market dynamics and infrastructure opportunities to complement power off-take strategies for complex projects.

Build Counterparty Relationships and Enable Master Agreements

  • Establish and cultivate relationships with major commodity counterparties, financial institutions, and power and gas marketers.

  • Facilitate and manage standard industry trading frameworks, including ISDA master agreements and NAESB contracts.

Drive Cross-Functional Valuation and Commercial Strategy

  • Partner with project modeling teams to evaluate, price, and model off-take structures, revenues, and risk profiles in financial models.

  • Synthesize power and gas market research into impactful deliverables and presentation materials for internal leadership and external counterparties.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.

  • 3+ years of experience in clean energy development, commodity origination, energy investment banking, or management consulting.

  • Demonstrated experience structuring, negotiating, and closing clean energy off-take agreements or power purchase contracts.

  • Understanding of power and natural gas markets, physical/financial hedging, and standard industry agreements (ISDA, NAESB).

  • Expert proficiency in financial modeling and quantitative analysis using Excel, paired with strong visual presentation skills in Google Workspace.

  • Proven capability to operate independently in a fast-paced, iterative environment with multiple parallel workstreams.

  • Commitment to technical rigor, collaborative execution, and long-term value creation, aligned with Intersect's values of Equity, Humility, Authenticity, Long-run Value, and People Come First.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
