Overview 

Play a pivotal role in transforming the way homes are made by working with our engineering team and external suppliers and contract manufacturers to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met, and accelerating Cover’s achievement of quality homes that are affordable to all. You will be the first hire in Supply Chain at Cover, and will be expected to manage all of Cover’s supplier and contract manufacturing relationships with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.

 

Role 

  • You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team of architects, designers, and engineers, to assess the manufacturability, cost, and lead times of parts via conversations with suppliers and contract manufacturers

  • You will lead the vendor selection process, including evaluating vendor core competencies and competitive positioning.  

  • You will be responsible for all RFQs, RFIs, Purchase Agreements, and Purchase Orders, ensuring that all terms meet Cover’s business and engineering needs, and are agreed to and documented.

  • You’ll analyze current and anticipated supply bottlenecks, and identify and develop solutions or sourcing alternatives.

  • Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that fulfill Cover’s business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers.

 

Experience 

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Law, Business, Engineering, or equivalent work experience or evidence of exceptional ability. Demonstrated technical engineering expertise and strong business acumen are both a requirement.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with engineers and learning technical product specifications in a short time frame.

  • History of continual improvement and achievement: identifying and implementing systematic changes that increase efficiency, effect change and, most importantly, improve the product.

  • Demonstrated history of producing extraordinary results in short timeframes with a high degree of autonomy.

 

Skills 

  • Exceptional analytical skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel or equivalent quantitative modeling and analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively negotiate contract terms.

  • Excellent verbal, and written communication.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve challenging problems both independently and as part of a team.
