THE PURPOSE:

The Senior Network Engineer works for the internal IT organization in delivery and support of core IT services. In addition, this position will partner with our engineering groups to provide infrastructure that enables their organizational goals. This position will report directly to the IT Manager.

THE ROLE:

The Senior Network Engineer’s role is primarily to ensure the stability and integrity of Virgin Hyperloop One’s global network. The exciting part of working for a large start-up is architecting change. We are constantly expanding and as a result need to design, and continually adjust, the network for scalability, flexibility and increased requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Deep understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching (e.g. STP, MC-LAC, OSPF, BGP, Multicast and Policy-Based Routing).
• Experience in Cisco Identity Management.
• Deep knowledge of Cisco ASA especially the FirePower.
• Cisco switching experience including N3k, 3800 and 2900 series.
• Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
• Proven experience in systems and network design and development.
• Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.
• Extensive operational experience orchestrating multi-vendor network devices.
• Experience managing and expanding global networks.
• Some experience with SDWAN, CDN and WAN Optimization.
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
• University degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and/or 10 years equivalent work experience.
• Professional Level Network Certification – CCNP Routing and Switching or equivalent preferable.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Juniper certification
• Other industry certifications
• Linux experience
• PHP or other scripting language
• Love of IoT
• Has a raspberry Pi automating something in their home
