Chef’d is looking for a smart, team-oriented, analytical Purchasing Manager to join our Supply Chain team - these are the folks at Chef’d who source the amazing ingredients used to make our delicious meals.
The right person will need to have deep food & peripherals sourcing experience, vendor management, production planning, product management, and experience w/ perishable warehousing and logistics. The right candidate stays on top of industry and competitive trends, brings a highly analytical approach to buying decisions and is able to communicate effectively with cross functional teams such as Operations, Marketing, IT, and Business Development.
Responsibilities:
- Manage our Supply Chain team in El Segundo
- Manage our Supply Chain vendor relationships
- Act as the primary Supply Chain contact point for all vendors for the El Segundo facility.
- Manage all co-packer relationships
- Facilitate needs of our internal teams - Culinary, Operations, R&D, QA, Brand Partnerships, etc.
- Communicate co-packer forecasting, planning and delivery deadlines
- Warehouse management:
- Communicate warehouse forecasting.
- Set warehouse availability dates
- Work with transportation manager to arrange timely deliveries
- Help Partnerships/Sales team with special, high priority deliveries
- Manage inventory for raw ingredients, packaging and finished goods
- Develop cost reduction strategies without sacrificing product quality or damaging product experience for our customers
- Manage KPIs for co-packers/warehousing
- Work hand in hand with QA to implement quality standards and track results
Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience in food business
- 5+ years of experience managing teams of 5 or more
- Experience with fulfillment and inventory planning
- Vendor management skills
- Track record of success in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Buying/planning, operations or finance background
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong numerical and analytical aptitude
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional organization skills including prioritization, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines
- Proactive attitude, detail-oriented, sense of humor and a team player
- Bachelor's degree Preferred
