About the Medical Director at Headspace:

At Headspace, our mission is to improve the health and happiness of the world. Headspace Health, the digital health subsidiary of Headspace, is pioneering new ways to incorporate mindfulness into digital medicine to help mitigate and treat chronic health conditions. Headspace Health is seeking a Medical Director to provide excellent clinical and research leadership for medical affairs activities associated with the development, validation, and commercialization of novel digital therapeutic interventions.

The Medical Director at Headspace Health puts patients and science at the center of all actions. This individual drives medical tactics aimed at maximizing medical, psychological and functional progress for patients. They collaborate to drive timely data generation and dissemination. They are expected to maintain an in-depth understanding of the medical strategy and relevant clinical and payer issues, while ensuring Headspace Health partners understand key trends and shifts in the external healthcare landscape. They serve as the guardian for high standards of compliance, ethics and safety. This position sits within a network of clinical and scientific experts, and therefore may be performing a variety of medical activities, as needed.

This individual will be responsible for the execution of medical activities that, depending on specific areas of responsibility, may include clinical study design and monitoring; clinical and health economic data analysis, interpretation and publications; medical content development and review; clinical training and insights generation; and scientific exchange and collaboration. We expect that the Medical Director may also choose to maintain up to a day per week of active clinical practice and are prepared to support this though it is not a job requirement.

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

• Design, execute, and monitor medical strategies, plans and tactics spanning the product lifecycle
• Partner with cross functional team working to develop, validate, and commercialize novel digital therapeutics 
• Effectively network with internal and external opinion leaders and collaborates with other digital therapeutics stakeholders 
• Provide expert guidance to cross-functional development team on science-based approaches to chronic disease management including working closely with the clinical operations and coaching team
• Lead the preparation of clinical development plans and clinical study protocols, and contribute digital therapeutics guidance to clinical research activities including informed consents, Investigator materials, and Ethics Committee and regulatory agency submissions
• Review and evaluate clinical study safety and efficacy 
• Collaborate with external experts to provide medical expertise and strategic guidance to early development team
• Participate in relevant external industry consortia to advance digital therapeutics research and establish industry standards

What you’ve accomplished:

• MD with 2-7 years of experience including at least 2 years of clinical research experience and completion of a clinical residency
• Experience in designing, monitoring and implementing clinical trials and interpreting trial results
• Clinical experience with chronic disease management, lifestyle medicine, and integrative health approaches
• Strong passion and successful track record for leveraging digital technologies to improve quality, affordability, and access to health care.
• Experience with the use of wearable sensors, digital health, mobile health, analytics, or other technology applications in a clinical setting
• Familiarity with evolving regulatory guidance around new healthcare technologies
• Business understanding of the digital health market and the broader technology industry, including wearable sensors, machine learning, blockchain, and other developments
• Familiarity with emerging healthcare trends, including value-based payment, real-world evidence, consumerization, and virtual care
• Experience working with design, engineering and business teams in a fast-changing environment
