About the Manager, Internal Communications at Headspace:

Join the Headspace team, and help us make the world a healthier, happier place through meditation and mindfulness! The successful candidate will be part of Headspace's dynamic, newly-formed in-house Communications team, reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications. The company is experiencing an exciting period of growth and opportunity across all business segments, and this new role will be responsible for Headspace’s first comprehensive internal communications strategy and infrastructure/platforms.

This position is a rare opportunity for a communications professional with 4+ years of experience to -- from the ground up -- develop and drive company-wide internal communications strategy, including day-to-day employee communications and content creation, strategic planning, and messaging for Headspace’s rapidly growing employee population.

The ideal candidate will bring their enthusiasm and experience, and be prepared to share their innovative, proven, hands-on successes in developing and executing internal communications strategies, platforms and practices. The candidate must exhibit a solid understanding of the role internal communications plays in an organization’s broader communications strategy, employment brand and overall employee experience. Candidates should also have experience working with a globally recognized brand, particularly in the tech, entertainment, health and/or CPG industries, as well as strong understanding of technology, digital media, culture and trends.

  • Leverage your experience with a leading global brand to develop a best-in-class internal communications strategy that will ensure team members are informed of and motivated by the company’s priorities, vision and culture.
  • Drive all internal communications activities, including day-to-day and long-term strategic vision.
  • Develop and manage the channels and platforms that will be leveraged to communicate with employees. This includes creating new platforms, as well as retiring or improving those that currently exist.
  • Work with senior leaders to determine internal priorities/strategy (e.g. business objectives, change management, executive communications) and draft relevant materials to communicate and support these efforts.
  • Collaborate with all teams, such as Content, Partnerships, B2B, HR and Finance, to provide counsel, seek feedback, develop messaging, and ensure consistent tone. 
  • Lead key employee events including programmatic development, content, agendas, and all necessary elements (e.g. Town Halls, All-Hands meetings, Executive Coffees, employee activities, retreats, etc.), frequently collaborating with colleagues in Events Management and People Operations. 
  • Serve as an internal resource for employee speaking engagements as needed, including counsel on messaging and presentation materials/visuals to ensure all elements adhere to Headspace’s standard of quality and consistency of messaging.

What you’ve accomplished:

  • Be a seasoned internal communications professional with boundless energy, enthusiasm, creativity and a can-do spirit. Be an internal ambassador for the brand and company.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications or related field.
  • 4+ years of internal communications experience.
  • Have a proven commitment to quality, exceeding expectations and delivering results; enjoy diving into and executing against the details; and be a master at multi-tasking and meeting deadlines. 
  • Knowledge of cutting edge communications practices, technologies, trends and best practices. And a drive to always be ahead of the curve and best-in-class.
  • Must be fluent in new technologies and applications in the electronic messaging/ communications field.
  • Experience with tech, entertainment or health industries a plus.
  • Ability to execute even under time or budget constraints.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills. Did we mention you should love writing and know you’re good at it with minimal oversight?!
  • Collaborative and energetic style and ability to work cross-functionally with partners enterprise-wide.

We're located in the heart of Santa Monica on Michigan + Cloverfield, just off the 10 freeway. Bergamont train station is right behind our office.
