PaymentCloud is looking for an M&A Strategist to join our team. The M&A Strategist plays a significant role in shaping and facilitating the execution of our growth strategy. In this role, you will work alongside the CEO and the executive team to identify and assess opportunities. You should have experience in financial modeling, analyzing key performance indicators, identifying, and advising on risk factors, and financing initiatives. You will lead the execution of key M&A and investment transactions underpinned by constructive relationships with the industry as well as a deep understanding of our growth strategy and a dynamic competitive landscape. Further, you will develop and prioritize the M&A pipeline, evaluate potential targets, execute due diligence, and provide valuable input to guide the company's future trajectory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio valuation – appraise portfolios’ potential profitability by running LTV/CAC metrics; determine a portfolio’s true worth & fair multiple
  • Risk analysis – determine potential liability associated with acquiring a portfolio: industry exposure, revenue concentration, account composition, etc.
  • Attrition analysis – compute the rate at which volume, revenue, and the number of accounts fall off the portfolio over time
  • Portability – ascertain the probability that merchant accounts will be relocated from portfolios
  • Industry characteristics – research and make determinations based on economic and industry-related factors
  • Due diligence on merchants – evaluate individual merchant viability and risk potential

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or related field with direct experience leading some, if not all, aspects of an M&A and investment transactions
  • Experience in Payments industry specifically is not required
  • Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to execute all aspects of transactions including M&A negotiation, execution, and integration
  • Strong capabilities managing, conducting, and effectively articulating the findings of the market and competitive research, business and financial analyses, due diligence, and negotiation outcomes
  • Extensive experience building relationships with senior management as well as internal and external constituents
  • Ability to operate constructively in a flat organization; must possess the willingness and judgment to effectively zoom in or zoom out depending on the needs of the team and project
  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
