Licensing Manager

Los Angeles, CA

We’re looking for a Licensing Manager to manage and research the procurement of all new restaurant licenses and permits, as well as oversee renewals for existing restaurants. This role will report to our VP, Legal and will work closely with Operations, Accounting and Store Development.

Core Work Activities: 

  • Research and implement the timely procurement of new restaurant licenses and permits. Coordinate with, government agencies, construction managers, expediters, architects, development team, operations, law firms.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and licenses meet strict construction and operational deadlines. Work with various cross functional teams to ensure required parties are involved in various stages of the licensing procurement and approval process 
  • Research laws and regulations per market to have in depth knowledge of operational requirements and regulations that may be applicable. 
  • Maintain existing restaurants’ operational licenses. Liaison between all departments and restaurants to: facilitate processing renewal applications and check requests for incoming applications; maintain vendor billing records; and provide all necessary paperwork
  • Oversee and maintain updates for SG licensing enterprise system (LicenseHQ) as the single source of information for operational licences and renewal requirements.
  • Ensure restaurants have up-to-date copies of their permits/licenses and provide clear instructions on the legal responsibilities of each permit/license. Responsible for permit audits confirming that all restaurants have necessary permits and licenses up-to-date. 
  • Manage liquor license application and renewal process for any restaurants that serve beer & wine 
  • Assist Finance Planning & Analysis team with planning and budgeting expenses related to licensing and compliance or any other affected area

Requirements:

  • 5+ year managing permits and licenses for a national restaurant brand
  • Effectively manage priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Notary public 
  • Ability to audit and review data for accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication 
  • Flexibility and ability to react professionally to changes in schedules and/or project direction without sacrificing productivity
  • Self-starter who thrives on working independently 
  • Ability to influence cross-functional partners to meet deliverables
  • Previous experience with LicenseHQ 
  • Proficient in Word and G Suite (google sheets, hangout, etc)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Full-time, salaried position based our LA sweetgreen support center
