Talent (HR) at Riot has a shared identity in that we care deeply about creating an environment where Rioters can do their best work and deliver value to players. Riot’s Talent team exists, to help Rioters make better decisions around its people. We bring our expertise to all of those typical HR activities such as hiring, onboarding, training and development, diversity and inclusion, performance management, benefits, perks, compensation, big events, employee relations, offboarding so that all Rioters can flourish.

As Head of Total Rewards, you will drive the development and ongoing operations of a Total Rewards strategy that enables Riot to attract, engage and retain world-class talent. You will have ownership of executive compensation, broad-based compensation, health and welfare programs, and Rioter recognition. You will lead and manage a team of benefits and compensation professionals to operationalize our Total Rewards strategy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic review, design, implementation and communication of Riot’s Total Rewards philosophy and programs
  • Develop compensation and benefits strategies that appropriately balance competitive market data, external best practices and Riot culture and values
  • Design compelling, performance-driven incentive plans that are appropriately integrated with both Riot’s business strategy and talent practices
  • Partner with senior leadership and HR team to develop Riot-appropriate approval processes and governance models needed to mature the organization and ensure fair, performance-based compensation practices
  • Drive design, roll-out/change-management plan and ongoing maintenance of Riot’s job architecture
  • Partner with HRIS team to design, implement and maintain compensation planning software
  • Review and optimize Riot’s employee benefits offerings, including self-insured health plan, and recommend changes that drive efficiency/manage spend while maintaining employee experience and program competitiveness
  • Manage the effective communication of all compensation and benefit programs, driving employee understanding and appreciation of the programs offered
  • Partner closely with key stakeholders (e.g. finance and legal) to ensure Riot’s compensation and benefits programs/practices meet compliance requirements
  • Establish and maintain strong, trusted relationships with leaders across the business to ensure that Riot’s Total Rewards programs support our strategic objectives and are aligned with company values
  • Stay current on emerging compensation and benefits trends, data sources and competitive intelligence
  • Build and effectively lead an exceptional Total Rewards team; ensure that they are technically strong, possess a high level of business acumen, are effective partners and capable of delivering results on time and at quality

Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of diverse Total Rewards experience with progressive responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver flexible, creative reward strategies that link directly to business performance
  • Proven ability to manage the communication strategies that reinforce compensation and benefits messages
  • Robust understanding of how talent management strategy and programs, including critical integrations with total rewards programs
  • Experience configuring and implementing compensation planning software (Workday-specific experience a plus)
  • Experience running benefit plan RFP processes and effectively managing performance of external vendors/consulting partners
  • Strong process and system improvement mindset with ability to lead team towards continuous improvement and delivering a strong Rioter Total Rewards experience
  • Experience building and motivating teams, particularly in a chaotic environment with frequently shifting priorities
  • Knowledge of legislation impacting pay programs; maintain awareness of economic and pay practice trends within industry
  • Ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships at multiple levels in the company
  • Ability to work through complex disagreements and conflict to achieve resolution
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • BA or BS degree, preferably in Business Administration and/or HR
  • MBA or MA in HR-related field highly preferred
