Bird is a last-mile electric vehicle sharing company dedicated to bringing safe, low-cost, environmentally-friendly transportation solutions to communities across the world. We provide a fleet of electric, shared scooters that can be accessed via smartphone. Bird is headquartered in Venice, California and is rapidly expanding across the country and the world.

What You'll Do:

  • The Head of Public Policy EMEA for Bird will help solve regulatory challenges related to entering and operating in multiple markets across the region 
  • Build and lead an effective Government Partnerships team across EMEA
  • Work in partnership VP EMEA and the General Managers for the various EMEA regions as well as other policy advisors
  • Work across departments, including Operations, Legal and Comms as well as with external consultants, to ensure smooth alignment. 
  • Monitor legislative developments and ensure appropriate government engagement across the region.
  • Develop creative strategies and tactics to drive Bird’s regulatory objectives 

What You'll Need:

  • BA required, advanced degree preferred
  • 12+ years work experience in government, political or management consulting, lobbying, in-house government relations, political communications. 
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: city, state or federal government; legislative affairs; urban mobility; politics/campaigns; advocacy. 
  • Sales experience preferred. 
  • Management experience required. 
  • Relevant foreign languages
  • Flexibility to travel as needed; experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience navigating bureaucracy, interacting with different stakeholders
  • Be a self-starter, with the ability to own and drive priorities within your portfolio
  • Be a flexible, creative thinker, able to think outside the box and pursue new solutions
  • Understanding of both the regulatory processes and politics involved at the federal, state and local level
  • Experienced public speaker, comfortable communicating your message and responding to tough questions
  • Ability to negotiate with city and/or legislative staff effectively, while maintaining positive relationships
  • Ability to think on your feet - to quickly synthesize and respond to new information while also continuing to drive your priorities
  • Thorough attention to detail when analyzing regulatory language and parameters
  • Willingness to hold yourself, team members and consultants accountable to continuously be anticipating challenges, identifying opportunities, and delivering results

  • Ability to be highly responsive and willing to work flexible hours, an ability to lead and manage shifting assignments and multiple projects at the same time is a must
