GoGuardian is seeking a privacy professional to lead the refinement of our privacy program. This individual will continue to iterate and implement a privacy program to ensure we stay compliant with privacy laws and regulations including FERPA, COPPA, and state student privacy laws. This individual will also be able to bring policy and best practices into GoGuardian from their own experience and listening to experts. This individual will engage with different business partners across GoGuardian to understand existing processes and tools, further developing our privacy program with these business partners, and training these business partners.

What You'll Do

• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, industry guidance and policies that impact GoGuardian’s agreements and business practices
• Predict and understand trends in privacy laws and policy
• Guide internal business teams about data privacy and security, including student privacy, security policies, and other related privacy matters. In particular, student and children privacy, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and various state laws
• Continuing to build GoGuardian’s privacy program, including optimizing processes relevant to privacy. Spearhead change, best practices, and compliance 
• Conduct training of business partners
• Understand the K-12 privacy, policy, and stakeholder landscape
• Develop connections with key external privacy stakeholders 
• Communicate with schools and the public about GoGuardian’s privacy program

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical training/education required
• Minimum of 2+ years in education or children’s privacy; student privacy experience and deep understanding of K-12 education is preferred
• Minimum of 6+ years in privacy in technology or another relevant highly-regulated data privacy industry desirable
• CIPP/G, CIPT or CIPM 
• CISA, CIA, or CISSP is a plus
• Experience with implementing regulatory compliance-related (e.g., COPPA) processes or systems
• Exceptional ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally about privacy and security
• Ability to be a leader and driver of change
