The Director of A&R Sync Administration will be responsible for the day-to-day operational activities relating to budgeting for creation of new tracks + remixes, advance payments, payment forecasting, vendor set-up, vendor management, union analysis/payments, issuing remixer & producer agreements and StudioHub ingestion. Additional duties include working with remixers/producers to make sure contractual deliverables are met, liaising with label A&R/Business Affairs/Marketing depts, curating playlists for creative clients and occasionally pitching.

Job Functions:

  • Coordinate with Sync A&R team to know what remixes/tracks they have on deck
  • Liaison with label A&R admin to set up Sync Projects in StudioHub
  • Request project setup in Uniport
  • Prepare producer and remixer form agreements for projects to be approved by Business & Legal
  • Coordinate with A&R, artist, producer and managers re: signed agreements, recording budgets & schedules; confirm royalty rates for producers and/or mixers
  • Review remix and producer agreements for payment details: advances + contractual payee information
  • Set up new vendors: send vendors link & instructions to register
  • Review new vendor registrations in uniport and confirm paperwork is correct/accurate
  • Liaise with A&R, business & legal, finance, contract admin, copyright, production, management, producers, production managers, vendors, musicians & vocalists
  • Set up recording sessions; coordinate studio, engineers, talent, book travel (when necessary) & negotiate fees/rate
  • Approve Uniport Requisitions/POs and travel (Eta)
  • Review, authorize, pay and track recording costs in Uniport
  • Review all producer/production manager AFM and AFTRA contracts for accuracy before submission to label A&R Admin
  • Provide recording cost information for finance
  • Review label copy and credits for union compliance
  • Advise production of mastering dates and studio contact information
  • Review deliverables before paying backends (executed producer agreement, union contracts, publishing info, audio files submission, etc)
  • Coordinate with A&R retrieval of audio files/media from producer/artist for verification and delivery to the UMG vault
  • Secure audio assets (ie. a cappella, instrumental, stems) from label A&R
  • Attend label marketing meetings for release schedule + marketing plan tracking
  • Oversee music ingesting/tagging and creation of music blasts in DISCO
  • Curate music playlists for creative clients
  • Occasional pitching to all medias

Job Requirements:

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to dynamically manage relationships and flex approach to achieve best possible outcomes
  • Ability to interact easily with creative people (artists, producers, composers, etc.)
  • Highly organized and ability to anticipate/manage through challenges to deliver timely results
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong skills in computation as it relates to budgets, forecasts and payments
  • Music/playlist curation and pitching skills

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in the music business with a focus in A&R Administration
  • Prior experience in Sync preferred
  • Experiencing managing budgets, forecasting, payments and cost control
  • Prior experience managing timelines for tracks and remixes pending or in progress
  • Experience managing recording sessions, related vendors/artists and coordinating logistics such as travel
  • Experience in vendor setup, ongoing management and related systems (i.e. Uniport)
  • Prior experience in contract administration with respect to proofing, financials, royalties and vendors
  • Prior experience with union analysis and payments
  • Experience in relationship management with key partners (internal and external)

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in music business, business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
