Job Description:

The Opportunity: Contribute to The Growth of Your Career

As a Operations Supervisor you will be required to use a mix of supply chain knowledge, transportation management system (TMS) experience and effective communication to support daily planning operations, implement continuous improvement initiatives and lead large scale logistics projects to drive profitable sales, reduce transportation spend and improve levels of service to the stores. You will support TJX logistical strategies and deliver merchandise to stores in a cost-efficient manner while meeting or exceeding service standards. From ensuring on time delivery of goods to our stores, to supporting logistics strategies to support our strong growth, you are critical in enabling the treasure hunt experience our customers love! 

In this role you will be responsible for developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPI’s) for the transportation team and leveraging these reports to identify improvement initiatives. You will also be expected to lead the team through the process of prioritizing, designing, and implementing creative solutions.

In addition, you will be responsible for partnering with internal and external teams to build strong working relationships that yield tangible results. You will also be expected to coach and develop transportation coordinators on your team, stewarding the timely and effective planning of outbound store deliveries that your location is responsible for.

The Responsibilities You Will Have in This Role:

  • Consistently deliver on key performance indicators around service consistency, quality, capacity, and cost.
  • Support execution of store delivery operations, ensuring accurate shipping schedules, and load planning, with a focus on transportation optimization, dedicated fleet, and peak season capacity strategies.
  • Facilitate cross-dock operations, ensuring efficient throughput and timely distribution to final destinations.
  • Manage carrier performance, recognizing and celebrating wins, and coaching and holding accountable when performance does not meet expectations.
  • Plan and communicate the truck capacity requirements and ensure an adequate supply of equipment.
  • Implement all aspects of our Q4 strategy to ensure a successful peak season and year-end inventory execution.
  • Lead through example by following best practices and applying the TJX leadership competencies.
  • Support and auditing Yard provider performance, scheduling, and usage as well as in supporting the building with all inbound and outbound transportation responsibilities.
  • Interact with Field Leadership, Store Operations, Loss Prevention, 3PL Team and Carrier Providers to ensure overall execution of service/standards maximizes TJX profitability.
  • Identify and champion process improvement programs.
  • Responsible for the development, maintenance and adherence of SOPs and account structures.
  • Lead logistics coordinators in executing daily logistics tasks around scheduling, reporting and auditing detention and bobtails and carrier communication.
  • Manages, coaches, and mentors’ direct reports and develops them for future growth within the function and organization.
  • Establishes goals and objectives and holds team accountable for performance.
  • Act as first point of escalation for issues that need to be addressed/resolved.
  • Conduct audits and reports on results.
  • Perform other logistics-related duties as assigned, contributing to overall supply chain world class.

Who We Are Looking For: You.

  • A minimum of 2- 4 years’ experience in Logistics or Supply Chain
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain, or related field OR related work experience
  • Experience leading and managing teams
  • Operational and Financial Acumen
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work cross functionally to deliver results
  • Knowledge of motor carrier industry
  • Understanding of distribution center operations
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking and problem-solving mindset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of transportation management systems and software

This position has a starting salary range of $61,000.00 to $79,700.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
