Operations Lead | Nox Metals | Los Angeles, CA

American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. The next generation of American manufacturing is being built right now. Nox Metals is the supply chain behind it.

Nox Metals is a technology company supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.

We need an Operations Lead to stand up our LA factory from an empty building to a running production floor.

You will:

  • Own the build out of the LA facility from day one

  • Source and negotiate equipment, tooling, racking, material handling, and everything else the floor needs

  • Hire the LA team. Operators, technicians, drivers, and support roles

  • Build the systems and processes that keep the floor moving. Shift schedules, safety, quality, inventory, shipping

  • Coordinate with the Detroit team to bring proven processes to LA and improve them

  • Work directly with the software team to deploy NOX NEST on the floor and make sure it actually works for operators

  • Own throughput, on time delivery, and customer quality from the LA site

  • Lead the team day to day once the facility is running

You should be:

  • High agency. You see what needs to happen and you make it happen

  • A builder. You have stood things up from nothing before

  • A leader people want to work for. You set the pace and the standard

  • Organized. You can hold a build out, a hiring pipeline, and a production schedule in your head at once

  • Cracked with AI tools. You use them to move faster than people expect

  • Comfortable on the floor and comfortable with software

  • Low ego. You will run a forklift, mop a floor, and interview a candidate in the same day

  • Customer obsessed. Quality matters because real parts go to real factories

  • Not afraid to work outside normal hours when something needs to ship

  • The kind of person who never says "that's not my job"

This role is full time, in person in LA.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
