Element employees make a difference in the lives of others every day. We are re-defining the fleet management industry to be people first, then business – delivering on our promise of a superior client experience. This takes hard work and innovation, and we need more like-minded people on our team.

Help keep autonomous vehicle deployments ready through accurate compliance and coordinated onsite operations.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Accurate vehicle documentation and timely compliance decisions are essential to keeping deployments on track. As a Compliance Specialist supporting vehicle deployment program, you will help safeguard readiness by managing high-volume documentation, registration, permit, inventory, and shipment workflows.

You will work onsite with internal teams, client stakeholders, agencies, and vendors to spot potential delays, resolve discrepancies, and keep records audit-ready. This is an individual contributor role with meaningful operational influence, where strong judgement, attention to detail, and proactive communication help reduce compliance risk and protect service commitments.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

  • Manage intake, validation, scanning, secure storage, and chain-of-custody controls for vehicle titles, manufacturer’s statements of origin, registrations, permits, insurance, and related documents.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and tracking data, investigate discrepancies, and escalate risks with recommendations that prevent delays and rework.
  • Coordinate registrations, renewals, transfers, and permits across applicable jurisdictions, checking documentation packages and resolving missing or inaccurate requirements.
  • Prepare and quality-check vehicle-specific compliance packets, confirming that registration, insurance, permits, and other required documents are ready for deployment.
  • Coordinate packet packaging, labelling, shipping, and tracking, and resolve exceptions affecting onsite or downstream operations.
  • Receive, reconcile, safeguard, and track licence plates, permits, and compliance inventory, maintaining accurate records for reporting and audit readiness.
  • Communicate status updates, blockers, action items, and resolution plans with client contacts, internal partners, agencies, and vendors, while identifying ways to improve accuracy and turnaround time.

YOU SHOULD CONSIDER THIS ROLE IF:

You bring experience in regulated, deadline-driven operations and the judgement to keep complex documentation workflows accurate and moving.

  • You have 3–5 years of experience in compliance operations, fleet or vehicle registration, program coordination, regulated operations, or client-facing operational support.
  • You have experience coordinating with internal and external stakeholders in a high-visibility client environment.
  • You can manage high-volume work, competing deadlines, sensitive documents, and operational risks with accuracy and discretion.
  • You understand compliance documentation, registration processes, data integrity controls, and audit-ready record management.
  • You communicate clearly, identify discrepancies and root causes, and follow through on issues and corrective actions.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office, tracking tools, shared work management systems, and compliance data platforms.
  • You can work onsite at the San Francisco location five days per week.

A bachelor’s degree is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. Preferred experience also includes automotive or fleet management, title and registration, motor vehicle agencies, mobility, logistics, or autonomous vehicle programs, as well as audit-ready reporting, issue logs, and action trackers.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL US

  • How you have managed high-volume compliance documents while preserving accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.
  • About a registration, permit, or documentation issue you resolved to prevent an operational delay.
  • How you have coordinated stakeholders to clear a time-sensitive blocker or manage competing priorities.
  • About a control, tracking, or workflow improvement you helped introduce to reduce errors or turnaround time.

WHY ELEMENT

At Element Fleet Management, you can apply your compliance and operational expertise to a client-facing vehicle deployment program that depends on accurate information, reliable controls, and coordinated execution. You will work across teams and stakeholders, helping connect disciplined fleet operations with emerging mobility technology.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
