About the Role: Marathon Capital is looking for an associate to join their Offtake Advisory Team.
This associate will develop and execute the Offtake Advisory strategy and business plan for North America, UK and Europe while working closely with senior team members. This person is enthusiastic about creating new pitches to support business development, enjoys researching a client’s needs and proposing solutions. This person is excited to work on the three broad categories of the Offtake Advisory practice, (1) corporate clients, (2) wind, solar, storage, RND and hydrogen developer clients, and lastly, (3) data center growth. Candidates should have an energy background, ideally in development, power marketing or banking with substantial knowledge of wind, solar, storage, and natural gas as well as an understanding offtake agreements and decarbonization concepts. Experience in digital infrastructure, advisory services and trading are valuable.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop marketing material and pitch material for client presentations
- Support the negotiation and closing of Offtake Agreements including PPAs, virtual PPAs, financial products and agreements for the purchase and sale of low carbon fuels
- Create sustainability goals for corporations and assist in meeting these goals through the execution of Offtake Agreements
- Support market entry, energy transition, data center advisory and consulting mandates
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key personnel of targeted clients, sustainability executives and business leaders
- Prepare, review or evaluate requests for proposals (RFPs/RFIs). Developer clients will need assistance with terms, conditions, and pricing for response to RFPs
- Create and manage RFPs on behalf of corporate clients
- Develop project models and work on the analysis of offtake options as well at the impact on financing assets (developer clients) and long-term risk/benefit in achieving sustainability goals (offtake clients)
- Provide market intelligence and insights to leadership, senior bankers and strategic team members
- Create original material for presentations based on research analysis
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration, or similar discipline with solid academic achievements
- 3-5 years of experience in US power finance, trading, origination, sales & marketing, or comparable experience.
- Candidates should have a wind, solar and/or storage development background and understand the power marketing or trading side of the business
- Ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends influencing the continued adoption of renewable energy including energy storage and the power requirements to meet current load growth
- Commercial mindset with strong prioritization, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to quickly step into new tasks and adapt to new circumstances in a dynamic environment

- Proven analytic reasoning including ability to translate concepts into financial models and creative problem solving.
