Oak Essentials was founded by tastemaker Jenni Kayne, renowned for her namesake lifestyle brand. After years of perfecting her own clean routine, Jenni set out to create a new approach to self-care—one rooted in nature and inspired by the indulgence of the spa. Oak Essentials offers a meticulous edit of clean skincare, body care, and fragrance products designed to transform daily rituals into moments of elevated simplicity and luxury.
- Location: Remote
- Duration: January — May
- Time Commitment: Up to 30 hours/week (3-4 days)
- Compensation: Unpaid; school credit available
About the Role
As a PR Intern, you’ll support the Communications team on a range of public relations initiatives—from product launches to media outreach to brand awareness campaigns. You’ll gain real-world experience in the fast-paced beauty industry while helping shape the voice and visibility of a growing brand.
What You’ll Do (includes but not limited to)
- Update and maintain media and editorial contact lists
- Create, update, and ideate various brand and partnership decks
- Draft editor pitches and follow-up outreach
- Conduct research on relevant press contacts, coverage trends, and competitive brands
- Assist with award submissions and maintain running logs and decks
- Track, compile, and format press coverage and monthly recaps
- Support events, launches, and brand partnerships with background research and coordination
- Help prepare marketing meeting materials and recap documents
- Participate in weekly team meetings and brainstorms
- Keep a pulse on beauty, lifestyle, and design media trends
What We’re Looking For
- Past experience a plus but not required
- Currently enrolled college student
- Self-starter attitude with an optimistic, collaborative mindset
- Passion for beauty, media, and brand storytelling
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines
- Familiarity with Microsoft office and with PR tools such as Muck Rack or Launchmetrics a plus
- Prior experience or coursework in communications, journalism, or marketing preferred
