The Run-to-Run (R2R) Engineering team supports semiconductor manufacturing through the development, deployment, and optimization of advanced process control solutions. The team partners closely with Process Engineering, Process Integration, Equipment Engineering, and Manufacturing to improve process capability, product quality, yield, productivity, and operational efficiency across the fab. R2R engineers also drive worldwide alignment of process control strategies and support the continuous improvement of Micron's manufacturing systems.
As a Run-to-Run (R2R) Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and enhancing R2R control solutions that improve manufacturing performance and process stability. You will leverage statistical methods, control theory, software tools, and data analysis techniques to optimize semiconductor processes, resolve manufacturing challenges, and support product ramp activities. This role requires collaboration with global engineering teams and participation in the deployment of standardized control methodologies across multiple manufacturing sites.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, deploy, maintain, and optimize R2R control strategies using E3 software and Micron information systems to improve process capability, product quality, yield, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Analyze process and manufacturing data using statistical methods and SPC techniques to identify variation reduction opportunities, improve Cpk performance, and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Process Integration, Manufacturing, and worldwide R2R teams to implement controller enhancements, bug fixes, version alignment, and standardized best-known methods.
  • Provide technical support for deployed process control solutions, including troubleshooting communication issues, supporting excursion reviews, and participating in engineering projects and on-call coverage as needed.
  • Create and deliver training materials, documentation, and user guidance while leveraging AI-enabled tools and Agentic AI solutions to improve data analysis, problem-solving, knowledge sharing, and engineering productivity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Control Theory, Control Systems, Automation and Control Engineering, or a related engineering field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, process control concepts, and control theory including open-loop, closed-loop, model predictive, linear, and nonlinear control systems.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis, process capability improvement methodologies, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting using Python and SQL, with experience supporting manufacturing or automation environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to support occasional off-shift work, weekends, and business travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing, deploying, or supporting Run-to-Run control strategies using E3 software within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor metrology, inspection systems, defect detection, failure analysis techniques, and process integration methodologies.
  • Experience with database technologies, data visualization tools, graphical programming, and manufacturing information systems.
  • Understanding of structured problem-solving methodologies including Six Sigma, 8D, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Experience using AI, Agentic AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), or AI-assisted engineering solutions to enhance workflow efficiency, data interpretation, automation, and decision-making in technical environments.
