Company Overview

Ghost is an AI-native inventory distribution platform and operating system for modern retail trade. We partner with the world’s best brands to help them understand the true value of their inventory and route it to the right destinations globally. Ghost gives brands precise control over where and how their inventory is sold. Backed by top venture firms including L Catterton, Cathay Innovation, Union Square Ventures, Equal Ventures, and Eniac. Ghost has offices in Los Angeles and New York.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Network Infrastructure Engineer who loves building reliable, scalable systems. You will play a critical role in keeping Ghost’s platform running and our offices connected during a pivotal stage of growth. You will own our cloud infrastructure, IT management, and office networking end-to-end, ensuring things are secure and always available. You will work closely with Engineering, Data, Product, and Design to support a fast-moving organization, and as we build products both on the platform and off, you will ensure they are fully integrated with our AI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage Ghost’s cloud infrastructure across AWS, Railway, and Vercel, including VPC networking, compute, storage, IAM, and security configurations; ensuring our environments perform well and stay secure
  • Design, configure, and maintain office networks across our LA and NY offices: switches, firewalls, VLANs, and Wi-Fi
  • Partner closely with Engineering on the deployment pipeline, ensuring our cloud infrastructure is scaled appropriately and CI/CD systems run reliably
  • Triage and troubleshoot infrastructure issues and outages in real time, and drive root cause analysis to prevent recurrence
  • Handle security-related tickets, such as fixing and maintaining GitHub Actions and keeping client/dependency versions up to date
  • Implement and enforce security and compliance best practices, including access control, certificate management, vulnerability management, and audit logging
  • Evaluate and roll out new infrastructure and tooling, advising Engineering, Product, and Design on the best way to adopt and integrate them
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to support data infrastructure and pipeline needs
  • Manage vendor relationships for networking hardware, cloud services, and security tooling; guiding the organization in strategic build vs. buy decisions to maximize ROI
  • Drive infrastructure-as-code adoption to ensure reproducible, auditable environments
  • Collaborate with Product and Leadership to translate operational needs into scalable infrastructure solutions
  • Stay current on AI infrastructure trends and help evaluate their application to Ghost’s platform

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of infrastructure or systems engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years at a high-growth startup
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (VPC, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Route53, security groups, and related services), as well as experience with platforms like Railway or Vercel
  • Experience managing enterprise office networking, including switches, firewalls, VLANs, and Wi-Fi
  • Solid understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, access control, certificate management)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Strong ownership mindset with comfort operating in ambiguity and resource-constrained environments
  • Experience building and scaling infrastructure in lean, fast-paced startup environments

Our total compensation for this position can range from $140,000-$160,000. The actual amounts may vary based on factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the position. This position will be onsite in our Los Angeles office (mid-city).

Benefits we offer:

  • Medical, Vision, and Dental with some plans covered at 100%
  • Competitive compensation and equity structure
  • 401K
  • Unlimited PTO

Ghost is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in the workplace. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and innovative environment where all employees can thrive. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic under applicable laws.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
