ABOUT THE ROLE

Fox Corporation is seeking a Network Architect to join our organization, supporting the design, deployment, and operational excellence of network infrastructure for live broadcast events.

In this role, you will play a critical role in delivering world-class coverage of premier sporting events, including the NFL, MLB, College Football & Basketball, NASCAR, IndyCar, and global spectacles such as the FIFA World Cup and Super Bowl.

As part of the Fox Corp Network Architect organization, you will collaborate closely with both network and broadcast operations teams to architect and maintain resilient, high-performance broadcast networks. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge IP-based broadcast technology and real-time live sports production—where milliseconds matter and excellence is the standard.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and Support Broadcast Networks:

  • Architect and implement IP-based network solutions for live broadcast events, remote productions, and studio workflows.
  • Work hands-on with Arista switches, routers, and associated technologies in Tier 1 production environments.

  • Design and manage routing and switching infrastructure for high-availability video, audio, and data transmission.

Event Support & Operations:

  • Provide on-site and remote support for large-scale live sporting events.
  • Coordinate network readiness for remote productions including pre-event staging, setup, and live-day support.

  • Perform real-time network monitoring and troubleshooting during broadcasts to ensure uninterrupted transmission.

Technical Expertise & Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth packet captures and traffic analysis to troubleshoot latency, jitter, and packet loss.
  • Optimize network performance for multicast-based streaming technologies and video over IP transport.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Broadcast, and IT Architect teams on end-to-end infrastructure planning.

Firewall and Security:

  • Configure and manage next-generation firewalls (Palo Alto Networks preferred).
  • Implement security best practices across live broadcast environments to protect critical infrastructure.

Emerging Technologies & Standards:

  • Work with IP-based broadcast standards like SMPTE ST 2110, SMPTE 2022-6/7, and AES67.
  • Interface with intercom and comms systems, understanding their IP requirements and integration needs.
  • Stay current with industry trends and evolving standards in broadcast technology.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Create and maintain accurate network documentation, topology diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to post-event reviews and continual improvement processes.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in network architecture with a strong emphasis on routing, switching, and network design.

  • Deep knowledge and practical experience with Arista switches and EOS.

  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls or similar enterprise firewall systems.

  • Strong understanding of IP networking protocols, including BGP, OSPF, multicast (PIM, IGMP), QoS, VLANs, and STP.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform and analyze packet captures using tools like Wireshark or tcpdump.

  • Familiarity with streaming and transport technologies, multicast distribution, and packetized video/audio workflows.

  • Experience supporting or deploying systems using SMPTE ST 2110, SMPTE 2022, AES67, or Dante is a significant plus.

  • Ability to troubleshoot under pressure in live production environments.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to coordinate with technical and non-technical teams.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Weekend and non-traditional hours are expected, particularly during major sporting events.
Ability and willingness to travel (both domestic and international) to support live events and remote productions.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

WHY JOIN US?

  • Be part of the team that delivers the biggest moments in sports to millions of fans around the world.

  • Work alongside industry leaders and technical experts in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Get hands-on with cutting-edge broadcast and IP networking technologies.

  • Enjoy unique experiences—from the Indy 500, to the World Cup, to the Super Bowl.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
