Job title: National Business Development Manager (South)

Location: You'll cover the South East, South West and Midlands up to Birmingham.

Salary: £82,000 - £91,000

Hours: Full time

Working Pattern: working from one of our sales units across the country, or remotely from your home office.

About this opportunity:

Are you ready to take your career to the next level with one of the UK's leading financial institutions? At Lloyds Banking Group, we're committed to helping Britain prosper, and we're looking for a dynamic National Business Development Manager to join our team.

You'll be part of a forward-thinking, collaborative environment where innovation and customer satisfaction are at the heart of everything we do. Our team is dedicated to achieving our corporate objectives, including becoming a top 3 provider in the protection market.

As a National Business Development Manager, you'll build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse panel of intermediaries. You'll play a crucial role in delivering our strategy and increasing opportunities for the business by leveraging your expertise to manage key customer and network relationships.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Proactively develop positive relationships with a designated panel of brokers, taking full ownership for generating new business sales against targets.
  • Help intermediaries identify new market opportunities and growth opportunities from existing clients.
  • Complete a minimum of 10 face-to-face or Teams meetings a week, including presentations at industry events and seminars.
  • Develop a robust pipeline of new business opportunities and ensure long-term adviser engagement.
  • Plan, forecast, and set quarterly objectives/initiatives to contribute to achieving targets.
  • Identify new intermediary opportunities within your region.

Why Lloyds Banking Group:

Like the modern Britain we serve, we’re evolving. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to transform the way we meet the ever-changing needs of our 26 million customers. We’re growing with purpose. Join us on our journey and you will too!

What you’ll need:

  • Subject matter expertise within the Protection arena.
  • Effective communication skills to keep up to date with the Scottish Widows Protect proposition.
  • Passion for the protection market and a growth mindset, recognising that role requirements may need to adapt as the market changes.
  • Ideally working towards or having achieved CII/PFS Level 4.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills to engage all partners.
  • Strong organisational skills and a proven track record in target achievement.

About working for us:

Our focus is to ensure we’re inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We’re committed to creating a consciously inclusive workplace where our colleagues can be themselves, thrive and perform at their best.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer Initiative.

As an inclusive employer, we offer Workplace Adjustments for colleagues with a disability (which may include long-term health and neurodivergent conditions) where it is reasonable to do so. This could include flexibility with regards to office attendance, location, and working pattern.

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Leader. If you have a disability, you can also apply via our Disability Confident Scheme (DCS). Through the DCS, we guarantee to interview a fair and proportionate number of applicants with a disability, whose application meets the minimum criteria for the advertised job role.

We also provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers for applicants with a disability, long-term health condition or neurodivergent condition. If you’d like an adjustment to the recruitment process just let us know!

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares!
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.
  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies

If you’re excited by the thought of becoming part of our team, get in touch. We’d love to hear from you!

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We keep your data safe. So, we'll only ever ask you to provide confidential or sensitive information once you have formally been invited along to an interview or accepted a verbal offer to join us which is when we run our background checks.  We'll always explain what we need and why, with any request coming from a trusted Lloyds Banking Group person.

We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we’re building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
